Officers of the Don Muang Immigration Bureau were able to arrest an Indian man after they found that he was using a stolen visa label from Malaysia. He repeatedly refused to have any knowledge in the crime.

BANGKOK- September 11, 2013 [PDN]; At the Don Muang Airport, Immigration Bureau officers were able to arrest 44 year-old Ikbal Abdul Gafu. He was arrested at the passport control after he was found using a visa which identification number matched the one that was stolen in Malaysia.

Mr. Ikbal stated that before flying in to Bangkok, he obtained his Thai visa in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He said that he had hired an agent who was an Indian for about 750 Ringgit or 7,500 THB.

Initially, Immigration Bureu officers have decided to charge for using an illegal or stolen visa label.

Last month, as reported on PDN, over 2800 visa labels were stolen in the Netherlands, Laos and Malaysia, all of which have now been deactivated in order to stop having people enter the country with stolen visa labels.
