AHTD Arrests Restaurant Owner For Trafficking Under – Age Children

The AHTD were able to arrest a restaurant owner in Khon Kaen province for child trafficking.

KHONKEAN – September 11, 2013 [PDN]; A press conference was held at the AHTD (Anti-Human Trafficking Division) HQ regarding the arrest of 57 year-old Mrs. Warinthip Reanpetch . She was arrested at the restaurant she ownedfor reportedly trafficking children into prostitution, upon the arrest, police were able to seize 29 condoms as well as 1,800 THB cash-money. The arrest or raid took place following series of investigations, it was later found that she was trafficking children aged 15 and below. 3 teenagers aged 14 and 16 were found during the raid.

Mrs. Warinthip said that the 3 girls that were found during the raid applied as waitresses in her restaurant. She refused to have taken part in any sort of child trafficking and that they agreed their personal terms on their own with their customers.

Another woman named Mrs. Kannikarn Chadam, aged 56, was arrested in Kanchanaburi for the very same allegation, child trafficking. It was said that she was in control of under-age child prostitution.

The two suspects are now being questioned and prosecuted by the AHTD officers.
