The internet

Hi people.

Just need some intel from the current residents of Thailand or anyone whos stayed there for a long duration. More specifically BKK and Patts.

I have an opportunity to work from home for about 6 weeks. Home i mean. LOS. :)

Was wondering how stable is the internet in either BKK or Patts.

Obviously i prefer to stay in Patts. But would not have a choice if there is no stable connection.

Dont mind hving to pay extra living costs to ensure this. Hell i'll be in LOS. Win win.

Apartments, condo's... Etc

Also is there 3G options available?

Any info? Someone has surely done this to some avail.

Stable internet connections are not a problem.

Never found the Web really slow in fact some places are quicker than In the UK almost.

You have a option of using a Cafe you could make it your Office as in go to work have some structure to the day then knock off and party.

3 g i think has spots in Bangers quick and slow not sure as not really up on this stuff.

Biggest issue i found was some Sites are blocked in Thailand i would normaly view in the UK not sure why I am sure somebody knows

No need to look at 'these sites' as all you ususlally watch is readily available in Pattaya....

If you are a heavy user, you will likely be disappointed by the speed. If you only need it for mails and cloud, you'll do fine. I prefer to tether 3G from my phone.

The government blocks a lot of sites for various reasons.

Porn, of course, is high on the list, but not the only type. Some sex dating sites are another example.

If there is story in a newspaper that reflects poorly on Thailand, then that newspaper's site will be blocked for a while. I couldn't get to the New York Times' site a few years ago because of some negative story about Thailand.

I used dtac mobile 3G on my last trip, it was about 900 baht, unlimited for 30days, i never had any problems with speed or connecting to sites, in fact i got connected a few days after i arrived and it ran out a few days bdfore i left and i was there six weeks, so i reckon i got more than 30 days from it, more like 5 weeks before my connection failed......
