Metropolitan police will launch the “miracle eye project” this 9th of September. They are now inviting people to register the software; there will be a total of 1 million cameras around Bangkok. This new innovation and technology aims to reduce theft, crimes and to improve the safety of the public.

Pol Maj Gen Adul Narongsak, deputy chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) is the person who decided to “install the system to report news and accident through the CCTV(cameras) which will help to prevent crime and provide safety”. The Department of intellectual property issued the patent over this technology on 14 March 2013.

He claims that the crime rate in Bangkok has increased and criminals are not afraid of what they have committed. Therefore to ensure that these criminals are more aware they have with they installed a new innovation and modern technology. This new technology will enhance the work of the police by ensuring safety for both locals and their property. The project called Miracle Eye has planned been since September 2012. There will be a total of 1 million Cameras (CCTV). And each camera will be 88 cms apart.

After the plan was proposed to the government for a 35 million baht budget, it was denied. Later Maj. Gen. Chat Kamrongwit Thupkrachang proposed it to the private companies and received support and interest from the TOT Company.

The project will be launched on 9th September, it will be opened for public registration system software to notify the TOT offices around Bangkok. The first year it is estimated that there will be 1 million software’s, second year about 2 million in the third year 6 million respectively. These software’s will be connected to the control room in the police station using TOT network line. A monthly fee of 500 Baht will be collected for registered users.

There will be four kinds of software 1. Reporting a crime scene directly through the CCTV that will be connected to the police station 2. An alert, when there is no one home and if there is anything fishy it could be reported to the police station 3. Red line alert, during bed time the alert button is switched on 4. This will be launched in 2014, it will provide safety in taxis and public transportation.

Once the alert has been reported to the police station, the police will have to arrive at the crime scene within 5 minutes. If the police does not arrive on time or does not arrive at all then they will be punished accordingly claims Pol Maj Gen Adul.
