Phuket – September 4, 2013 [PDN]; At the DSI headquarters, Mr. Somsak Pureesisak, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, requested the DSI to arrest groups or individuals that were known to have done several offenses that broke the law including tax fraud. They were also known to have threatened tour and taxi operators to not intervene with their taxi business.

The case is now being processed by the DSI in order to catch the culprits as soon as possible.

Taxis with black license plates aren’t allowed in Thailand, yet the culprits who threatened other operators in Phuket continued to service tourists with their illegal taxis. As of now, almost 500 drivers were arrested for operating or driving taxis that were illegal.
