The Governor of Rayong province was delighted with the fact that the seafood or fish market was up and running again after locals were given the green light to consume local seafood again.

RAYONG – September 1,2013 [PDN]; Due to the disastrous oil spill back in July, the sea was massively polluted and toxic. A major clean-up that was organized by locals, the government and merchants helped to quickly revive the sea water to it’s original state, although some parts of the sea are still polluted.

Mr. Wichit Chatpaisit, the Governor of Rayong province said that “Rayong seafood is safe and clean [once again]”. In order to regain the trust of the local’s, an Iron Chef was invited to cook using fresh fish and other marine animals that can be caught from the ocean.

An overwhelming amount of visitors came to the Ban Phe beach in order to see and taste whether the beach and sea returned to it’s original state or not.

The fisherman group stated that ever-since the oil spill happened, their caught fish, crabs and squids couldn’t be sold as no one went to the market to buy any fresh seafood as it was feared that they were affected by the oil spill.

Thanks to the reported activities, the fish market is up and running. The fishermen have now plenty of work to do in order to have sufficient supplies for the overwhelming amount of visitors
