Stickers visa that have been forged have become the latest topic, the further they try to resolve it the further the problem gets, the forges was in Kuala Lumpur and in the mail bag at the Embassy of Hague, Netherlands. Ministry of foreign affairs is now hands on in resolving this problem.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs analyzed that the incidents that occurred is due to the country’s economic development, more trade and investment flow especially in the Asian region. The Thai government policies have opened more doors to trade and investment in the tourism industry in order to promote the overall economy. The main goal is to make Thailand the hub of ASEAN. Each year about 10 million businessmen , traveler and foreign workers flock into Thailand or has made Thailand as a stopover destination before traveling elsewhere. This has resulted in tremendous inflow of capital.

Even people from countries in South Asia, Middle East and Africa, that are classified in the group of countries that a threat to national security makes visits to Thailand.

Meanwhile, some countries require a visa to visit Thailand therefore ,in cases of businessman, foreign investors, stock investors, football player that are hired to play in Thailand and needs an urgent visa a special methods are done by the embassy to issue a visa that is hoped to pass the Immigration Bureau and successfully enter the country.

This has become one of the reasons smugglers use the sticker visa as an illegal way to enter Thailand. After this incident happened the Ministry of foreign affairs are doing all it takes to solve this problem case by case, There has been 300 recent forged stickers that have been issued by the Malaysian Embassy. Those sticker’s code have now been deactivated.

Mr. Surahong Tovijakchaikun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign affairs assigned Mr. Natharut Photisaro, Deputy Secretary Ministry of Foreign to establish a group along with the immigration Department and the police Department to examine and make sure that no such cases occur. From a thorough investigation that took more than two months, it has been found that the visa sticker theft and forge have been committed by local employee of the embassy.

The auditors have checked and found out that someone had changed information on the computers so that forgers would not be identified. Visa stickers were also sent to be stuck on the passport along with the Garuda emblem and forged signatures.

Two men from Ghana and Burundi have been arrested for illegal use of the visa sticker. The two suspects travelled from Savannakhet to Thailand and the immigration Department was suspicious about the visa stickers and therefore found out it was forged. After tracing back it has been found that since 2007, 500 visa stickers have been missing.

As for solving this problem the Ministry of foreign affairs have implemented a plan to use as a universal system instead, which is in the form of E- Visa that will be ready to use by next year. Moreover, due to the latest cases they had to rush to launch the E-Visa as soon as possible. Minister of foreign affairs has made visits to Singapore, Japan, Dubai (UAE) to have a look at the design and adopted to suit Thailand. This has been planned since last year and has assigned the Institute of Tech Lat Krabang, Bangkok to designed the TOR system that is aimed to start working from October 2014 onwards.

The Ministry of foreign affairs was impressed that this is not the first time that the visa stickers have been lost or forged. But due to hiring new officers for the embassies abroad these incidents had not been discussed and therefore the Embassy of Thailand did not receive any information earlier.

This issue still needs to be looked at; will the new measures be implemented and solved? Or will it be like many other news that just tops the headline and are left unresolved.
