Hi guys,

I would like to ask if any1 has been to "Galaxysuites"? and if they could give any review / advice. It looks to be in a good location, since i'm thinking of hitting mostly Walking Street and Insomnia. And what about "Secrets hotel"?

If not, any recommendations?

Thanks a lot

well by reading around through the forum, came to the conclusion that neither would appeal to me for a few reasons:

1) the noise which can be a deterrent

2) in the morning, nothing much to do around

3) rooms at galaxy suites might be a bit 'small'

on the positive side, i've asked both hotels and both replied that there is no joiner fees at all

I've stayed at both places. I had the jacuzzi room at Galaxy and just a basic cheap room at Secrets. I liked both places for what they are which is right in the middle of the action. I stayed 7 nights at both places. Yes, it's loud. Starts about 6pm and doesn't stop until 4 am. It's full on party, so if your into going to bed at midnight I would stay elsewhere. After 7 nights I was ready for a change. I like to split my time between LK Metro and Walking St. Kinda best of both worlds.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have stayed at Galaxy Suites on numerous visits. First, it's easy to get to. If you get off your flight at Suvarnabhumi at 11:30PM, by the time you get through formalities, and get your taxi, and the long drive, it's now 1:30AM, or later. Having the driver drop you off right at the 7-11 at the top of Soi  Diamond, it's a quick walk to the hotel. Then it's just a few minutes of unpacking (only enough for your short night out), and a quick shower, and then you can drop in to a few bars - of course there are more than a few right there on Soi Diamond. No need for a moto taxi on your first night. Sleep in, as it's very quiet in the morning.  I usually have a reservation at another place beginning the next afternoon, so I normally check out at around 10:30 - 11:00, leave bags with the receptionist, then go across the Soi to the little German place for a nice breakfast (take my tablet, check my emails before and after my meal).

Wifi is OK, and good bed and pillows. I once stayed here for 2 nights, by mistake!

I stayed in the jacuzzi suite there in January of last year.

Pros:

- Close to Walking Street

- Jacuzzi is quite nice, and can easily fit a farang and 2 or 3 girls

- Room is quite large

- They give lots of towels

- Front desk is manned 24/7

- Small hotel, so they know who you are

- You walk past the locker room at Heaven's Above to get to your room, sometimes that's entertaining.

- Very guest-friendly

Cons:

- Far from breakfast

- No plausible deniability

- To get there you'll have to carry your luggage half a block then up two flights of stairs

- Bathroom not so nice, asian style shower

- Location is a bit embarrassing, there's no plausible deniability

- Loud at night

- Can't see out of the window

Just people doing business.  Naked.  With Buddha.

Buy imodium before you need imodium.

The roaches are starting to get out of hand - had a little one crawl by my girl's head as I was pumping away, made it difficult to concentrate.

Construction next door starts early 8-9am and is very loud.

Also some of the HA girls who I refused to barfine a few trips back give my girls evil stares as we walk by, and sometimes yell shit at me to make me look like a butterfly. Next trip I might have to barfine them early and convince them to stop that shit.

Still, the location is great, bed is big and soft, TV is good, wifi is excellent.

Stayed there 3 times now for a total of 5 weeks, will probably end up there again next time.
