AOT Prepares For This Year’s High Season!

AOT prepares for this high season from October 2013 until March 2014 by making sure all the airports have efficient services and also increasing the immigration counters by 20%. It is expected that the airport will be able to support if the tourists visiting increases more than 52 million.

AOT and TAT join hands in a strategic alliance to provide a database to help deal with tourist market more efficiently. The management plan will also help to reduce airport congestion especially in major airports like Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok , Phuket and Chiang Mai International Airport. Moreover, the management plan will also focus on the airports overall management as well as the transportation of passengers from the airport to the travelled destination.

AOT predicts that during the high season from October until March of next year the expected number of passengers travelling using the airport service will increase by 15. 20%. As being the first service provider it is our goal to be prepared in welcoming these tourists, claims Mr. Phongsak,Junior Vice President of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited. He also claims that passengers continue to increase in major airports which are Suvarnabhumi Phuket and Chiang Mai airport. In addition to the management plan the company will also focus on the long-term plan to support the tourism market.

It is also expected that during high season the number of flights will increase by 6.5 to 7% but the significant increase are the increase in chartered flights from China and Russia. Currently the major airports are receiving chartered flights on regular basis, especially in Phuket. The company also negotiated with the airport, which is under the supervision of the Department of Civil Aviation to follow the same strategic plan.

Mr. Phongsak, stated that tourism authority of Thailand (TAT) and the AOT have joined hands in promoting the tourism market and also to prepare and support the increased number of tourists.

Mr.Suraphol Savotsereni ,Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand ( TAT, ) claims that the strategic agreement aims to increase the number of tourists travelling to Thailand and prepares for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) , which is also the country’s main strategic goal. Strategic agreement will also include showing off tourism and aviation information, tourism news and press releases and the statistics of passengers travelling in and out of the country.
