Affected Oil Sspill Fishermen Accept PTT Relief Offer

Fishermen who were affected by the crude oil spill or leak accepted a relief offer from PTT that compensates their losses in cash money.

RAYONG – August 27 2013 [PDN]; A representative of PTTGC (PTT Global Chemical) had offered a cash relief for fishermen who were affected from the crude oil that leaked on the Gulf of Thailand. 12 community members that represented the fishermen group had accepted the offer from PTTGC.

It was reported that the fishermen would receive an improved offer of 2,000 THB per day from a previous 1,000 THB that was offered before, which equals to 60,000 THB per month. Fishermen who think that the money is not enough to compensate their losses, they’d be able to ask for additional funds from PTT.

A 85 million THB was forecasted to payout the 760 fishermen who registered as being affected from the oil spill.

The fishermen were relatively happy for having PTT increase their relief money as it known that the ocean water will take months or even years to fully recover from the spill.

Minister of Energy confirms that a compensation will be issued to 117 people that were affected from the crude oil spill in Koh Samet.
