BANGKOK – August 26, 2013; The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that 2,000 additional visa stickers have gone missing during the delivery to the Hague in the Netherlands.

The news came after last week’s admission by the ministry that 300 visa labels had disappeared from the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said all the 2,000 missing visa labels have been cancelled and an in-depth investigation is being launched to determine the nature of the disappearance.

The ministry is in discussion with the Department of Consular Affairs in a bid to toughen visa delivery procedures and to issue new types of visas.

Deputy Prime Minister Pracha Promnok has instructed the Immigration Bureau to closely monitor the screening of visitors to the country.
