An Iranian was arrested by Immigration Bureau officers for allegedly using stolen visa labels.

Bangkok – August 23, 2013 [PDN]; A press conference was held at the Immigration Bureau headquarters regarding the arrest of 24 year-old Mohammadzadeh Nima, an Iranian national, who was arrested for having used one of 300 stolen visa slips that belonged to the Thai embassy in Malaysia.

He was arrested as soon as officers matched his visa number with the 300 stolen visas.

Mr. Nima claimed that a broker in Kuala Lumpur offered him a visa for about 100 USD to 3,000 THB. Upon two days after his payment to his broker, he received his visa. The Iranian could face up to 10 years in jail as well as a fine up 200,000 THB.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised the Immigration Bureau to keep an out for these kind of frauds, as it is believed that 1,000 visa labels or slips are still out in the black-market, sold by brokers who obtained the visas.
