661 Thais From Egypt Expected To Be Back In Thailand This Midday

661 Thais who wish to leave turmoil-embroiled Egypt are expected to be back in Thailand today (August 19), with the help of chartered aircraft and the Air Force's transport airplane.

BANGKOK – August,19,2013; Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary Sihasak Phuangketkaew indicated that 704 Thais in Egypt have expressed their Desire to return to Thailand. The 661 persons who make up the first batch of returning Thais will arrive in Thailand on board 4 aircraft. 2 chartered Boeing 737 aircraft will carry 290 persons, a Thai Airways Boeing 747 will carry 325 persons, and the remaining 46 persons will travel on the Royal Thai Air Force’s C130 tactical airlifter. The Thais are expected to arrive in Thailand around midday today at Don Mueang airport in Bangkok.

As for the 43 Thais who are not part of this first batch, the Thai embassy in Egypt will arrange for their return to Thailand via commercial aircraft.

The Ministry of Public Health, which dispatched a number of doctors and nurses with the Air Force’s C130 on Sunday evening, will also ready a number of medical personnel at Don Mueang airport to receive any of the returning Thais who may require medical attention.

Good to see that the Thai Government is getting their citizens out of a dangerous situation. I don't think all developing countries would react so quickly.
