Open question to admin/mods

What's the deal with all the pop up side windows and highlighted  words that link to seemingly random web pages and crap?   If I want to look something up I'll do it.  I don't like the crowding of the web page or shazbot opening up as I move the curser around the page.  Is this something that really makes the board better or an irritant?

I've never had any pop-up window appear on my screen sorry. 

As others suggested I think you have a problem with your computer....better get it checked out mate.

Yep. Update your computer to the latest security patches, use a browser like Google Chrome that will warn you when you visit malware sites, consider real time malware protection from a product like malwarebytes.

There are a few that also hit chrome , many do not know that they can quickly check the extensions  by typing chrome://extensions/ into the address bar.

By avoiding the use of internet explorer ,installing an anti virus like security essentials ,and paying attention to what is installed on a system you can avoid 95% of the typical problems  .

There are NO pop ups on this forum. As has been pointed out you almost certainly have malware by the sound of it as we have come across similar reports before although rarely.

 

I should stress the malware does NOT emanate from the forum - you get it from elsewhere then it works on certain platforms such as Invision forums.

No pop ups but I've had the 'highlighted words' bug a couple of times - Malwarebytes Anti-Malware found it and cleared it, or try 'tdsskiller' or google around.

 

Spybot finds a fair amount of crap too.

it seems I may have had a 'nasty' on board.  all seems ok now, I got off target due to the fact it only was happening when I visited PA.
