Pattaya Hospitals

Wondering how you guys rate the various Pattaya hospitals.

I know the Pattaya Bangkok hospital is considered the best but they charge farang like wounded bulls. So how about the other hospitals? I'm looking for one that's good but doesn't charge absurd fees. Memorial? Bang Lamung?

In the past I've been to the Sattahip Navy hospital, which I think is very good, but don't want to drive that far if there's a similar alternative in Pattaya.

This is not for surgery or any complicated condition. Just need to see a doc and maybe have a couple tests and get some medication.

Had my secretaries tits done here and a friend of mines wife was just recently there for a brain tumor.

Not a piss take like BP and the quality of service is superb.

Drive the extra 30 minutes.

Fuck Bangkok Pattaya. This hospital is the bollocks.

I've had small things done at the International and Memorial and they were both OK, not too expensive. I would avoid BPH like the plague. I also went to Banglamung once and although the place is a bit run down (reminds me of the NHS) the process and care was excellent (and dirt cheap).

I had a hernia op at Sattahip Naval Hospital. No complaints.  Cost 10,500 baht  in 2003.

For local minor problems i use Pattaya Memorial.

There is a new Hospital opened in Soi Bukauw but only doing outpatient stuff meantime. It will be an alternative to Banglamung.

Has anyone used it.

Thanks for the tips guys. I went to Bang Lamung and was actually impressed with everything. Service was fast friendly and very inexpensive. From registering to the time I had seen a doc and was ready to leave was about 2 hours. I've been having bad acid stomach and reflux so been wondering if I may have a more serious condition like ulcers. The doc I saw prescribed some medications for treating stomach acid & reflux and made an appointment for me to see a specialist in a couple weeks, to have the scope down my throat and a look around inside my guts. Cost today for consultation and meds was 300Bt.

What about for Eye Specialists. Are they also available in the "alternative" Hospitals mentioned - alternative to the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital?

I'm pretty sure all these hospitals have eye specialists. I've seen eye specialists in other Thailand hospitals before.

Having had experience of all the local hospitals, for minor stuff I use Memorial anything more serious I head up to Bumrungrad in Bangkok. As for Pattaya Bangkok it is the biggest rip off there is. They openly admit to dual pricing with the mark up being as much as 100% in some area. Having said that if you have excellent insurance you are not going to care to much :Evil_Grin2:

All over Thailand that Bangkok chain of hospitals absolutely ream the ass out of farang. It's a wonder that the various medical insurance companies haven't got onto the bastards for padding up bills and overcharging.

Good luck finding a location map on that website.  I tried finding a location map for 10 minutes and was not successful.

Now to actually give some useful information to the member who politely asked.

I just put these hospital names into Google Map and found all of them.  I've always wondered where the Bang Lamung Hospital was and now I know.  With Google Map's recent addition of street view on many of Thailand's streets you can virtually drive there from a place you are familiar with.

Bang Lamung Hospital

I needed an emergency eye exam about a month ago.  My choice was to go to Pattaya International, but they had no eye doctors in that day.  Looking on the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya web page I found a whole slue of eye doctors.  They saw me within two hours of calling.  Yes, they charge more than all the other hospitals, but not by a huge margin over Pattaya International or Memorial.  To have my torn retina repaired at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya cost 7070 baht.  Each follow up exam was 1070 baht.  The one hospital mentioned above in Si Racha does have an eye clinic according to their website.

I had a papilloma removed from my head using a laser for about 3000 baht at Pattaya International.

I had 4 skin tags removed at Memorial using a scalpel for about 3500 baht.  I really don't recommend Memorial for procedures than can be done using a laser or Liquid nitrogen.  Memorial does not use either.  They are years behind IMO in removing skin tags or a papilloma.

...and I do admit I have insurance which pays everything after a $150 deductible for minor surgery.

Because what they charge is still less than what we pay in the US.  To my insurance company even Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is a bargain.

But don't get me wrong.  I'm not a fan of what they do and how they charge.

I've had a severe eye   problem which kept me indoors for 3 weeks  during my holiday. First went to a clinic, after that Pattaya Memorial, and ended up at Banglamung for the last consult. The reason I went to Banglamung was on advice of a local Thai lady  I know. She mentioned the eyespecialist at Banglamung also worked in Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

This was 8 years ago  though, but I've heard more similar accounts of specialists at (for instance) Banglamung being the same as the big name int. hospitals.

I've used most of these hospitals over the years. Unfortunately, Bangkok Pattaya is expensive. But, several times, they've turned out to have the best possible medical care available in the area. So there's a reason it's always so crowded yet so costly. To put it another way, if cost were not an option I would choose Bangkok Pattaya hands down. That value proposition we face when it comes to medical care is one royal pain but it can be a life or death decision (or just a matter of getting some medication you can get without any doctor's bills at any pharmacy)

The best doctors in the U.S. charge exhorbitant fees and people willingly pay them thinking there is that much of a difference in the service. There has to be some truth to that.

How much was it to have your secretaries tits done? Just curious as to what the locals rate was. On a scale of 1-10

what was the result. A bar owner in Patong had one of her lady-boy staff show me his/her tits. I am not into lady-boys

but they were spectacular.

Not knowing the area very well is that in Pattaya. If so I can get the directions of one of the locals when I next get to Pattaya.
