Banglamung (Pattaya) motor vehicle department won't transfer owndership of non-chonburi bikes.  They said it must be done only in Chonburi city.  Will Chonburi city transfer the motorbike into a farrang's name on any visa (no visa, or stamp on arrival), same as Pattaya will?

Go to any of the motorbike dealers with the transfer papers and they will organise the transfer for you.  Just transferring ownership is usually around 2000 or a bit under, but if you also want the registration changed to Chonburi then it will be a bit under 2500 baht.

What is the best way to buy a Motorbike in Pattaya?

- New?

- Used?

- Who could possibly assist in the checking of used Motorbikes?

- What Documentations are needed?

- What type of Insurance?

- Costs?

Thank you for advise.

Seems to be a bit steep !

I've just been to Chonburi and changed plates from Kalasin to Chonburi on a SUV for 480 baht and that includes the 2 new plates !

Yes the DIY route will always be far less expensive, but if you can't read Thai then filling in the forms becomes an impossible task, plus you have to go up to Chonburi and then after you change the registration to Chonburi you still have to transfer the ownership.  DIY is therefore not within everyone's capabilities and paying an agent can be the best option.
