Staying for 8 months. Rent or buy?

Will be staying in Pattaya for about 8 months during my next trip. Is it worth the effort to buy a motorbike and later sell it? Or should I just rent it for 2000 each month?

No personal experience, but, since you know that your time will be limited, I would rent.  

 

You may pay "more" in the long run, but what if you buy and have trouble selling when you're ready to leave?  In my experience, buyers can "smell" a desperate seller and will push for a better deal for them and bad deal for you.

Can you buy one for 16,000? Or say, 25,000? If you can then getting anything out for the former is money you keep, and if you can sell it for 9,000 or more, ditto.

 

What do they cost? That's how you determine rent vs. buy (plus insurance and maintenance, etc.)

We may have a couple for sale soon, not expensive, use it for your time here and sell it a month before you;re leaving, if needed you could rent one for the last couple of weeks of your stay.

Better to buy one . For around 25 you can buy a nice bike and with a quick sale you will get back between 18/20 easy .
