Proper Phone Greetings

Recommended Posts

Hello , Bueno , Moshi Moshi , are common greetings when answering the phone in different languages.

What is the proper way to say hello & goodbye when answering the phone in Thai ?

Thanks in advance for your help ?

Pretty much the same as in english:

Hello = hello pronounced the Thai way, so more like hen-loh

Goodbye = bye bye, or a Thai phrase they use often is "Kae Nee Na" meaning something like "that's all"

If you want the proper pronunciation, pop these into Google translate:

ฮัลโหล - 'hello'

แค่นี่น่ะ - That's all (literally แค่ = only/merely, นี่ = this, น่ะ = particle used for politeness or emphasis)

When answering the phone it is polite to say Ko Sai Krai na krap , which roughly translates as who would like to speak to? (Not literally).

When calling someone say Ko Sai then the persons name who you are calling na Krap

Never hurts to say Sawadee Krap also
