Blocked imei UK mobile. Will it still work in LOS?

Hi, I have a unlocked iPhone 5 but it was reported lost and the imei has been blocked, rendering it useless in the UK. (it was found again in the car but technically now belongs to the insurance company).

Can anyone tell me from experience if this is an international imei block or just UK/EU? Will it still work over there?

Please don't reply 'take it to tukcom', etc as the phone does not need unlocking or jail-breaking as it's the IMEI that is on a blacklist.
