I'm not definite but I think that if you use your home country SIM you should be alright.

if you use your normal sim from your own country, like vadafone orange or O2 then if willust show your normal number. But make sure you turn off data roaming and find out from your provider how much texting will cost you as it can mount up a VERY big bill.

Be well Dave

As long as you have roaming allowed on your phone. Orange is free to receive and 50p to send. The recipient won't know where you are but will show on your bill. If you are in a wifi zone and they also have an iPhone will be sent via iMessage and not show on bill or be charged.

You could also download an app called Viber to get free calls and text to other Viber users.

If all you want to do is text then definitely turn it off, roaming with data will usually rack up massive charges as you have heard. As long as you use your home sim card nobody can tell where you are texting from.

Yes turn off the data roaming, and you will have no problem except your phone bill, it will charge you more the text.

If the people who you want to keep contact use smartphone there are a lot of app who just need wifi connection to send message and It's free.

If u use your India sim then u shouldn't have a prob but the roaming charges are applicable so be prepared to shell out more.

SMS? iMessage works with WLAN too and it's free. Sending SMS doesn't cost so much. If someone sends you SMS, it's free.

It's not even worth it to risk. Most carriers have very expensive plans. I called Verizon and they told me my phone could work in Thailand but it will be $30 for 20mb of data and a couple dollars a minute to make calls. Also something like .50 cents a text. It's way easier just to buy a cheap ass phone in LoS and use it there, while using your iPhone in a Starbucks or something.

Basically get people used to using your Google number to text/call you. it automatically forwards to any number you use, even a thai sim card you may pick up, as well as your standard phone. you can even respond and read messages from the web if u Desire. and people don't question why you use a Google number, it's because it allows you to back up all your messages, transcribes your voice mail. make low priced international calling... Google Voice is the shiznit.

Must you buy Apple products? The company has become one of the most ruthless and unethical ones of the world.

Oh for christ sake, Mike Daisy admitted he lied about all this and it seems he's a chronic liar when it comes to his plays and books. If you don't think Samsung, HTC or a host of other manufacturers in Asia are on the same game, then you're beyond naive.
