Details:

Lovely room, good size, QUIET!!!!, clean.

Fleeing from the blaring racket of the birthday Karaoke of LK Metro I arrived at The Devonshire Restaurant & hotel to a friendly welcome from the owner Tim himself. Must have been a coincidence Tim doesn’t know me from a cake of soap.

On checking in one thing I often notice is that ‘woman’s touch’ in a room. A small flower, a romantic picture you know that subtle girlie thing they are obsessed with it makes me feel welcome and at home. No trace of the ‘feminine touch’ here, other than a poster of a voluptuous Thai woman who seemed to be, how can I say, in a state of arousal? Needed my trusty Thai power board as the power point was a long way from the ‘computer desk’.

Entry to the hotel is via the entrance to the right of the Restaurant. ‘Girl Friendly’ and no ID check. It is good you do not have to parade through the Restaurant to get to your room.

Had to check out the Restaurant downstairs it looked highly regarded with many people eating there, including Thais. I have no idea what happened. I ordered a Green Curry and it wasn’t till the next morning I realised I had been served a Sweet & Sour dish. Got the feeling they could have slopped a ladle full of cold porridge on a plate and I would have eaten it ‘check binned’ and left. The Sweet & Sour dish was delicious and I did have the FREE breakfast and it was excellent.

Crooked things drive me nuts. The wall safe was on a slight angle. Fairdinkum Somchai! Finally in desperation and fearing an OCD attack I threw a Towel over it. Problem solved.

Wrap Up:

The Devonshire is a GREAT stay, terrific location close to LK Metro, Soi Buakhao, Soi Diana, Soi Honey, Soi Chaiyapoon, good to see the often Thai lack of customer service not letting the team down here, staff were friendly and accommodating. Well done Jan. Did I mention it is quiet? The street is full of restaurants and fresh ‘street food’ vendors a few Beer Bars etc. Would I stay here again? Damn straight I would!!!! At 650 baht per day +free breakfast +free good Wi-Fi +pleasant staff, are you kidding me? Book early before everyone else finds out about this little gem. Did I mention it is quiet?

Thanks for the review. Worth to consider for the next trip. If i am not all wrong it is just opposite of Opey de Place, and was called Le Katai before?

Everyone has the right to my opinion

EXACTLY!!!

Opey de Place right across the Soi.

As I understand it Le Katai and Devonshire where as one. Then Devonshire Reataurant & hotel split away from Le Katai Bar & hotel on the right.

I was going to book into the Le Katai but the place didn't open till 2pm in the afternoon and I came back but Thai girl said 'No Hab loom' so I slung me hook and headed up to a little budget Guest Room at 450 baht per night. lmao Oh man what fun.

Le Katai seems to specialise in Golf tourists, bloody Golf Bags everywhere. lol

'par' I have to laugh mate.

Tim seems to have a penchant for the brightest yellow.

All the time I am thinking "bloody hell that is yellow"! lmao

Lucky they didn't let him loose in the rooms you would glow in the dark after leaving the room.

I can recommend that laundry and restaurant having stayed across the road. Nice review but I like to have a pool nearby. It's a great location with everything close to hand.

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

No problem - you can use the pool in Opey de Place acrosss the soi. I think they charge 100 Baht per day including a towell.

Yes they do close it about 6 or 7 pm - never bothered me as i normally have more important things to attend to during the evening/night :GoldenSmile1:

Hi Chiis

Look I got a little confused too.

The way I see it is The Le Katai is on the right with a downstairs bar area and rooms above. This is not the Devonshire Restaurant & Guest House.

Le Katai seems to just cater for golfers doing golf trips around Pattaya.

The Devonshire is to the left with a restaurant downstairs with room above.

My information is they are now separately owned and operated.

I did want to stay in the Le Katie but was sought of told bluntly 'No hab loom' they didn't seem very friendly so I legged it lol

Please note guys I NEVER meet or introduce myself to an owner. I am just a average punter off the street.

Hi Tony

NO!!!!! you do not walk through the restaurant area at all.

There is a open passage way between the restaurant area and the Le Katia Guest house next door. You walk down and turn left and go behind the kitchen and then to the wide stairways that lead to the rooms.

No nosey staff or customers eye-balling you. I am not sure if there are CCTV camera's set up but I have never heard of any security issues with The Devonshire.

I cannot remember if the door behind the kitchen is locked after hours. I didn't notice any security staff after hours.

I may have to add security to my reviews in future Tony.

I can add a comment that I eat breakfast here on a regular basis.  I don't stay here because there's no swimming pool.

The English breakfast is pretty good and they're astute about special requests (over-cooked, under-cooked, cooked a certain way, etc.).

However, the Thai food is not recommended.  I have had three Thai ladies inform me that the Thai dishes are overly salty and not cooked authentically.  After hearing this from two separate Thai's on two separate occasions, I've considered saying something to them, but I've decided to keep it to myself.  However, I will stress that this is a good place to go with your friends and fellow-travelers to eat, but not recommended to bring Thai ladies too.

I ate at Le Katai many times on my last visit, so I know where it is.

Can you say the room is quiet even when Triangle Bar has the speakers cranked up to 11?

If so, I may really want to stay there.

Totally different Soi your getting Chaiyapoon and Lengkee mixed up.

I doubt you can hear Triangle speakers in another Soi.

Fair comment ruay.

Thing is you see MANY Thais eating there which is usually a sign the Thai food is up to a high standard. Having said that they tend to be with Farangs.

I DEFINITELY agree with you about not saying anything though. I have seen it get pretty nasty when Farangs complain about something, best just move along and enjoy your Holiday.

That's my rule anyway.
