do you mean can you get a plan that gives you internet? yes you can just make sure the phone is unlocked... you can google online and get a factory unlock by code or probably get it done in patts...

Thanks for the replies, maybe I'll just use it as a phone in Patts, I will have my laptop with me.

thats the best bet mate,, make sure your hotel has wifi in room,, some only have wifi down in reception areas,,,,phones well handy for when your out and about in wifi areas,,,,

If you decide to use your Smart phone with Internet in Thailand, the unlimited data package costs about 800 baht for one month and includes 3G and free WiFi hot spots around the city.

If you're in BKK you can get it unlocked top floor of MBK, I am sure there are places in Patts too but don't know them so well

Yes no problem, you can get the SIM and data plan set up in the airport. I recommend True and specifically don't recommend AIS. Packages range from I think 349 for 1GB with unlimited starting around 599 (plus 7% VAT), for a month. Pay more for more 'fast' GB at 3G speed. There is also daily unlimited for 49. Get a data package, much better value than just sticking credit on and you don't have to worry about it or even if your place has Wi-Fi in room.
