Mini Android PC with HDMI

7-Eleven

Recommended Posts

I was reading up on these yesterday...

It's basically a mini android PC that plugs directly into the HDMI on any TV. It looks like an oversized USB memory stick so it would be perfect for chucking in your suitcase and taking with you to use in hotels etc.

It has built in Wifi (although some models have encountered problems with this) and a Micro SD slot to expand the in built storage of 4GB.

There is a review here...

You'll need some sort of wireless mouse/keyboard but they can be picked up cheap enough.

They are rootable.

I'm not ready to buy one yet as I need to look into it more but just thought I would pass the info on.

Paid for my Raspberry Pi about 3 months ago, it still hasn't turned up

Did you order out of the first batch? I hear that demand was much higher than anticipated.

There are plenty of comparisons between this and the Raspberry Pi on YouTube.

Have bought 2 from Newark/Element here in the Us and they both arrived within 10 days, despite a warning that the were back ordered for 10 weeks. $35/ea.

I use one for XBMC media center (Xbian) and the other for tinkering around with. Would be very easy to set a Pi up as a web server, or a simple desktop computer. Runs the very popular Debian Linux system (the mother of Ubuntu).

No, not the first batch. Demand for them has been huge.
