Free Calls To the USA from Thailand or any other country and viceversa

now this only works for American numbers using wifi or data network.

 

install on Android phone the google voice app, you will get a US #, as long as you are on wifi or data plan you can make free calls to any US number and Canada, you can buy credit if you want to call overseas, but on my latest trip I discover that I can use my phone over wifi and make FREE UNLIMITED calls to the US from Thailand, I called a couple of friends and they didn't believe me that I was in Thailand because my American # was showing up in their phones, I saved a lot of money =).

yes it will work with skype to skype for free, however skype to cell phone is not free.

I have an Ooma box installed in my condo so I can make/receive free calls anywhere in USA with this, and I don't even need a computer. It just connects right to my modem. and I use a regular telephone.

Google voice with Talkatone app on iPhone - free calls to USA and Canada. Cheap calls elsewhere. Need to have a USA ip to get Google Voice.

the only downside to the Ooma Box is that you are stuck to one place, while you can take your phone anywhere you have wifi available and make the calls.

I don't think so, you need to do it with an American #, that's the way they verify your phone, by calling you and giving you a 2 digit code that you have to enter to set up google voice,

 

talkatone just installed on my phone without any verification but I already had google voiice installed in my phone and since talkatone works with google voice there was no need to verify my phone again.
