BBQ Buffet in Thai?

Hello,

 

I'm in koh samui at the moment and I really want my Japanese girlfriend to experience a Thai buffet Barbeque. But no one understands what I mean.

 

In pattaya, there is one called "the fish" on soi 1. Hot plate at the table and a huge amount of foods to bring back to the table and BBQ by yourself. There's also one called ninja in nakula.

 

When I asked for a Thai buffet BBQ here they just refer me to the seafood restaurants.

 

What is the proper word for Thai style BBQ buffet in Thai?

I believe that it is the same as in pork. Not 100% sure though.

Thinking about it, it may be Moo with a low tone, the same as in an address, meaning collection or group

Thats interesting.

In Japan, Korean BBQ means cooking bite size meat over charcoal at your table. Great food, but no water involved as in the Thai style where they make veggie soup around the edge of the hot plate.

 

Another thing is that I am on Bo phut beach, which is a resort town. All the restaurants serve the same things.

 

God I miss pattaya.

In Thai it's หมูกะทะ , if you like you can add อย่างเกาหลี - Korean style

 

And yes the Moo is pork, although you can put pretty much anything on the plate

Moo g/kata didn't work at reception, but the taxi driver knew exactly what we were after. We were lucky one was close to the hotel, too.

 

My Japanese girl loved it and said it was the most "cultural" experience we've had so far.

 

Once again pattaya addicts kick booty.
