One killed, one wounded in BKK Ratchada shooting

BANGKOK, July 29- A man was killed and another injured in a shooting on Bangkok’s Ratchadaphisek Road Sunday morning, according to the police.

Wirat Diloksi, 37, was killed and Wisan Suriwong, also 37, wounded when a gunman on a motorcycle fired at their pickup truck near Ratchadaphisek Soi 19.

The incident took place Sunday morning when Mr Wisan drove the pickup truck with Mr Wirat as a passenger after they left a local nightclub.

An initial investigation found that a group of six female and five male nightclub goers, including Mr Wirat, left a nightclub in two vehicles.

When the pickup truck carrying Mr Wirat and Mr Wisan was passing the crime scene, a gunman on motorcycle without a licence plate approached the vehicle and shot at the victims approximately four times before fleeing.

Meanwhile, the cause of the shooting was presumed to be a suspected drug deal that led to a brawl at the nightclub.

Police believe that the dead victim may have asked a drug-selling syndicate to sell him the illegal drug and was turned down.

Police officers are speeding up checking of closed-circuit television cameras and gathering related evidence in order to hunt down the gunman. (MCOT online news)
