Calling UK 08 Numbers

Not sure which forum this should be in so i'll start it here and the mods can move it if they see fit.

 

Almost all big companies in the UK now use 0845/0844/0870 numbers, it's rare to find a company that still uses geographical numbers.

 

If you are overseas the cost of calling these can be excessive and it seems to be getting more common that the company in question doesn't

give an alternative number for calling from overseas.

I had to call my bank (Santander ) last week and by the time I had actually gotten to speak to a human being (maybe) my CAT calling card was depleted.

 

So, here's a great website where you type in the name of the company and they list alternative non 08 numbers.

The site is updated by its users so you can be fairly sure that the numbers will work.

I used the alternative for Santander, got straight through to a real person and sorted my problem out in under 3 minutes.

If you're in the UK it's a great way of being able to use the inclusive minutes on your mobile phone contract too as most mobile operators

charge a premium for calling 08 numbers.
