Combating Hardships in Rural Thailand

I have previously admired MECHAI VIRAVAIDY due to his work with population control in Thailand. Significantly the population of Thailand and Phillippines were similar in 1960. (about 50 to 60 million) Now 50 years later the population of the Phillippines is about 98 million and Thailand about 68 Million. This is a dramatic depiction of what can be achieved and the living standards of both places are reflected in the population control. Although he has done plenty towards the population control he is now putting his energies into Rural schools, building factories and promoting intense agriculture to keep the population in the areas and out of Bangkok.

 

I have seen some comments about his days in the Coup Government but it certainly looks like he is doing a good job now.

Interesting news clip, living in Isaan for some years now I experience many of these changes first hand, the improved education system,the reduced size of families,the younger generation not working in the rice fields therefore the amount of Combines in the area is growing steadily. Plus the amount of investment in rural Thailand by large companies is just amazing.
