One man killed, another wounded in Narathiwat shooting

NARATHIWAT, June 12 – One man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting at a motorcycle repair shop in Narathiwat.

Wisit Saejiang, 48, a brother of the motorcycle repair shop owner, was shot in the head and died at the scene.

The brother, Witthaya Saejiang, 51, was shot in the back and severely wounded. He remains hospitalised.

A gunman pretending to be a customer came into the motorcycle repair shop to fix a punctured tyre.

As Mr Wisit checked the wheel, the gunman shot him at point blank range, and then fired at Mr Witthana, standing inside the shop.

Police responding to the shooting immediately checked the motorcycle brought into the shop by the gunman and found a remote-controlled bomb hidden under the seat. The five-kilogramme bomb was quickly defused. (MCOT online news)
