I really don’t understand why the UK NHS places such restrictions on preventative measures.  Why does one’s sexual preferences make a difference?  Do they also restrict gay men from receiving treatments that straight men are allowed to have?

Is it a case of limited resources so they must ration treatments?  Is it available via self-pay without such restrictions?

Those bunny ears look really cute IMO. Definitely wear a pair to your appointment.

A meningitis vaccine that 30-40% effective against Gonorrhoea.
Personally I don’t like those odds or the idea of thinking medicine is the answer to all potential ailments.

I completely agree, in principle our NHS is the best in the world

In reality it's really poor, I had an infection and got told on arrival by a really cold nurse that its 6 hour wait, accept or go home
In Thailand, I was listened to, made to feel safe and welcome, was treated and Doctor told me in detail what will help, what to get and where, it was wonderful, yes ok you pay at the point of use but if it's a better service I don't mind, I know why our country is failing but I am not going to get political

So say you’re gay. I get free condoms mailed to me, I just had to tick two boxes saying I was gay and a minority race.  Fuck em, if they’re going to discriminate by race and sexuality they deserve it.

It's the best in the world if you have never worked here and never paid taxes here or need woke treatments.

If it's just the MenB jab I can't imagine it's expensive or in short supply but given the low effectiveness it's probably not going to help much. A quick 5 minute at home test would seem much more useful.

About $80 in the Philippines. No need to go through the hassle of uk doctor/hospital visits.

Similar price in Thailand according to Google

You don’t ask my Question?
who says that the british health care are the best in the world?
better than in scandinavian countries? Better than Germany, France?
i just wondering where you have that information?
if you googled it, england is way below the top…

Your table is for people who work in the country and pay tax there.

The NHS is not known the the worlds free health service for nothing. Yes many countries offer better health service than than the NHS to people who live and pay taxes in that country. Few if any countries except the UK offer better health care services to people who don't pay anything into the costs.

For the people who are paying the NHS substandard as your table shows, for the people who are getting the NHS for free it's A1, the best in the world, as nowhere else in the world would they get that standard of care for free.

Nhs is not free…
the british taxpayer are paying some how…
And no matter what,  the health care in england are way below many other countries
you keep saying the same and same it’s the best, but can’t provide any evidence of that statement…
but anyway this topic is about gonorrhoea

I've been following this research for a while on Bexsero / 4CMenB. Has anyone gotten this in Thailand or the Philippines? I see Pulse now has a page on this. I used them in Pattaya for my PrEP and they were efficient. I'll follow this with interest and do some more research.

By some act of God, I have never caught gonorrhoea despite countless bad decisions—and I would like to keep it that way.

The amount of times I have caught it and it's on medical reports + they give me PrEP also, maybe they will ?

This is my update on how far I got:

Pulse Clinic never bothered to respond to my email. Screw them!

Pattaya memorial: No have. Fair enough

BHP: Had to spell the name of the vaccine several times over the phone.  Agree, it’s not a very catchy name

Got an appointment straight away, same day. Could choose the time. You have to love them.

I told the examining doctor that I was going to sub-Sahara meningitis belt countries for work and my company wanted to see a meningitis B vaccination.

20 min later I had the shot.

Check bin: 5100 for vaccine and 900 for room (kidding)

Have to come back in 6 month for 2nd and last shot.

Hello all, adding my experience with getting Bexsero in Pattaya.

I’ve been using the Pulse Clinic in South Pattaya for about two years now, always contacting them using their LINE. I believe this is their link: Pulse Line South Pattaya

They’re pretty fast at responding on LINE. I was going back to them for my annual refill of daily PrEP. I’m happy to use them, as my insurance covered nearly all of my PrEP prescription last year.

As part of my booking, I also asked for a Bexsero shot. The doctor explained the facts from the research, which aligned with what I had already read, and then administered the shot. The cost was 3.7K THB, and since I already had the consultation for PrEP, there was no additional consultation fee.  In and out the door in under 30 minutes, easy as can be.

I’ll need a second shot when I can get back to Pattaya in 2026. The only side effect I experienced was arm pain at the injection site, which started around 24 hours after the shot and lasted for about 48 hours. A minor inconvenience, but it didn’t stop me from partying and taking girls, as one does in Pattaya over the Christmas break.

I’ve filed this with my insurance and it’s currently under review. Let’s see if they pick this up as well, along with my PrEP for 2026.

Anyone got the vaccine in the UK and can point me to a good clinic ?

I live accross the Channel, and GPs here ain't really inclined to prescribe the vaccine since the DOXYVAC study results. And if I were to say I'm going to visit the Meningitis belt, I'd only get the one that covers the A W C Y strains.

So I'm planning to get it in London. More convenient to get the full course.

Also on a sidenote : a booster dose every 3 years is advised.

Knowing Thailand and India are among the worst countries in terms of antimicrobial resistance of clap, 30-40% is a pretty good odd if you're to monger in Pattaya...

Read some guys getting the clap in Pattaya despite using Doxy (was on Reddit though, so I doubt their hygiene was top notch...).

Lived most of my adult life in Asia, I’m 66 years old, never had any STI.
it’s not about statistics or cures, it’s about being responsible for yourself and the woman you just paid to have sex with.
