Lots of chaos, people, inconvenience.   But having sat here through the great covid pandemic in an often virtual ghost town I'm happy to see Pattaya back to being Pattaya again.

Well said! Was just making the same point chatting with a mate last night. It's not easy to convey just how terrible things were during that shit show. So whenever these events come along (like the fireworks recently) it just warms my heart.

Selfish grumpy old man that I am, I actually liked it better during covid. No tourist, no traffic, hungry girls, and a beach rd condo at half price, it was heaven.

But your right it's good for the Thai people that it's so busy now and there's money flowing in town again. Still, I can't help but feel a little nostalgic about that time.

It was quite full at the beach at about 06:00pm last night. We refused staying there and after bar hopping we end up at New Plaza where the right music was played for the TGs.

I was enjoying the holidays here so far.  Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be with crowds and crazy.  However, this new years long weekend was quite the shit show.  Traffic was horrible.  Almost as bad as during the fireworks weekend.  

WTF were they thinking filling up beach road sidewalk with food vendors? As usual, leaving enough room for pedestrians to actually walk was an afterthought.  I mean, why leave room for pedestrians when you can squeeze in yet another food vendor selling the same stuff you can get everywhere.  

Had to laugh walking past Hard Rock.  They had a live band blasting music facing the beach stage which also had a live band blasting music, and near that beach stage there were some booths promoting who knows what, also blasting music...because why not.
