Hi guys I am considering staying at the pattaya bay resort in July and was wondering if they charge extra for bringing ur bar fine back to the room? Also has anyone stayed in the standard room, if so is itany good cuz it's only 999 bhat in low season!? or is it worth upgrading to the deluxe for 1600? I've stayed at the Areca Lodge the last 2 times but it's a bit depressing in there I think so this place has gotta beat there!! Any info is appreciated cheers guys!

I have stayed there twice last year, very good value. Rooms are good size, great location....like todder states the Avenue is open and it's opposite.

I had the 999baht room and that is suffice IMO. A mate of mine had the deluxe, all you get more is a bigger room, dvd player and a microwave. I'm sure others here will add to the thread.

Here is a review i posted 18 months ago when it just opened. then i got the larger room at a cheaper rate but the smaller rooms are just fine, you get breakfast for you and teelak, a pool, gym, wifi, 24hr security and english speaking staff... its really good.

plenty of people on this board stay there and even in low season it is booked up... book ahead!!!

with the avenue there is now a central location really, and is nicely in the middle of the soi bukow, 2nd road area.

ive stayed 3 times, 4th will be in june.

say hello to gloy on reception, she is very nice.

Girl friendly, but possible charge for the second/third/fourth girl.

http://pattayabayresort.com

Q: Is there an additional charge for joiners/over-night guests?

A: All of our rates quoted are for 1 or 2 persons sharing the same room. Therefore, if a single guest brings back a joiner, there is no additional fee. If you have a third person in the room, there is an additional charge of 500 baht per person, per night.

My personal fav is the PBR...but i always open my trips with a 2-3 night stay at Secrets for initial rapid-fire ST action...lol.

NO charge for 1 girl, ever as that is policy (they even give you a free breakfast ticket for her if you want it)...and ive gotten 2 up to the loom without comment on more than one occassion (but no breakfast for 2nd girl w/o paying, but then i rarely make breakfast anyway)...never tried 3 girls.

I will say that buying the girls at the front desk a pizza the 2nd night you are there will always bring smiles...just tell the girls youre buying and they will get it delivered from Slices...they love it and its cheap!

As for the 999baht room vs. the deluxe or suite...it really comes down to how you like to roll...ive stayed there for up to 3 weeks at a time and always just gotten the standard room...its perfect for me...im not a party animal, and i travel alone so im not in a position to need a place to entertain my mates before/after mongering duties...i dont cook food in my room, and i have a dvd player on my computer...and all rooms have a balcony w/chairs.

I guess if i was traveling with a group of buddies, one of us would get a big suite so that we could party in-house at times or play poker or something...but so far, that hasnt been the case.

Have fun and book early! The PBR...Always clean, always comfortable, always a smile by ALL the staff.

Hi Ryan84cfc

I am also staying at PBR in June/July this year, with another Aussie mate (both of us are newbies!).

We have opted for the deluxe rooms.... only because they are not that much more expensive than the standard rooms anyway!

I have only read good comments about PBR. We are using the airport pick-up - just 1 less hassle. We also arrive in the early hours, so no bus options at that hour.

From what I understand its a short stroll through the Avenues to 2nd road. The turn right to Tims Beer Bar, soi Diana etc. Or turn right to Walking Street.... or jump over 2nd road & into the smaller soi bars. Wonderful bar on the doorstep. Also Shennaigans pub in Avenues if you can't go another 30 paces without a beer!

Counting down the days til June.... may catch you at PBR in July.... what are your travel dates?

Cheers

No deposit is required on booking. However, when you check in they require payment for the duration of your stay. What I have done in the past is given them my credit card to guarantee the payment. You can then finalise the account when you leave. You can use another payment method (other than the CC) if you like. I have done this a few times and never had a problem.

Not only at the standard rooms only 999 Baht in low season but the 7th night is free too. At least it was last low season. Also breakfast is included. Book early as it is heavily booked even in low season.

I stayed there last September for 2 weeks and I had a ball there. I was in there deluxe room which is very nice. Definately girl friendly and the front desk staff is very accomodating. Actually, one of the girls that work at the front desk (Gloy) is a good friend of mine. She made sure I wasn't bringing back a BG that wasn't of my caliber. :D Everytime I'm in PATTS I always take her out for a nice Thai BBQ dinner. Big ups to PBR!

I sent them an email and this is some of the info they gave me

They will be having Low Season special price, (15 April to 31 October) Standard Room, Internet Daily Rate 999.00 baht per night, 1 or 2 persons, King size bed with private balcony.

Plus, they will run a weekly promotion, for every six (6) nights paid you will receive one (1) night FREE.

The rate includes: American or Asian Breakfast Plan for one (1) or two (2), daily room cleaning, fresh linen, bottled water and free WiFi and Internet.

And a roof top pool and jacuzzi sounds good to me.

Hey gents....couple of questions.

I have been in Pattaya many times, but always stayed at PEnthouse hotel (my first few trips), then at Secrets. I will be coming to Pattaya sometime in early Feb....and Secrets is booked solid. I have seen ads for a few hotels....PBR, Tims Botique among others......are those 2 hotels similiar in service and room quality (PBR and Tim's?). Also, what is the noise situation like at PBR.......is it relatively quiet and does it have curtains that actually block most of the sunlight so one can sleep in the morning after a long night of mongering??

Thanks

TG

I always found PBR to be quiet. The rooms are fairly dark in the day time with the cutains closed. The rooms on the right end of the building (when looking at the front) have windows next to the bed that let a bit of light in.

Scumbag...thanks....I emailed PBR for more info on room availability....also still looking into Tims. My biggest problem right now is that I do not know for sure exact date of arrival to Thailand....so difficult to make final hotel and taxi arrangements. Little bit of a pain in the rear.....

Youll find PBR to be a significant step up from Secrets, though I like Secrets as well and stay there often...usually first couple days in town to get those STs in and clean out my pipes. And, it is a lot more reasonably priced than Tims. Problem is, im guessin the PBR will be fully booked in Feb as well, but good luck.

TG, if pbr is booked, LK Rennisance and Areca are probably pretty good choices on soi Diana (nearly opposite each other)...

If pbr is booked next time i need a room, i think im gonna try one of those two...about the same $, maybe a nudge more, but last time i was there i walked in to both just to see and was offered a loom of equivalent size for 1000baht even though both websites listed much higher rates (this was for a 1 week commitment)...i of course was happy at pbr, but wanted to see what was what for the future since its fully booked so much of the time.

Cheers! Alex

I've recently stayed at the Penthouse - spent a week there. I haven't seen anyone else on pattaya-addicts mention the Penthouse, but I liked it. The location was very convenient, and also enjoyed playing in the pool with a girlfriend. I'll probably stay there again later this month, but this Pattaya Bay Resort looks interesting. Tron God - have you stopped going to Penthouse for any particular reason?

For anyone else on this thread - what is the rooftop pool and jacuzzi like? Is it adults only type of atmosphere, or are there families staying as well.

Thanks

TGOEA

I'm here now and my only 2 gripes are it is a bit out of the way. but my biggest gripe is the walls are paper thin. and the cleaning staff is noisy as hell. its sucks when you are trying to take a nap to combat the jetlag. oh and i also hate having to cross 2nd road. I'm surprised people don't get hit

Hi,

i really liked the PBR as well. Nice, clean rooms, good value for the money. The restaurant has top notch food as well. The location is actually very good, as

you can just walk through the new shopping mall to second road in 2 minutes.

My only gripes would be (nitpicking really) :

a little noisy in the morning, slow wifi (might be better in other rooms), shallow pool (can't really swim in it either, but good for a soak), and only one really slow and

small elevator. I've just emailed them to check availability for my next trip in April, so i would definetely recommend staying there.
