Budget accommodation that doesn't require a deposit

  Hi,

I already have a room when I get to Pattaya, but am thinking about changing it now. I am interested in hearing from people about decent rooms on Walking Street(or really close to it) that do not require a deposit(I do not use credit cards). Any info? Thanks.

Hey Nickeldog,

Try Jasmine hotel, it's on Soi BJ, which is a side street right in the middle of Walking Street. You can get to Walking Street in about a minute and half from the hotel. I stayed there in March, nice room, close to Walking Street and decent price. They do not require a deposit, just book in advance if you're going during high season, they fill up fast.

Most only want a deposit for monthly stays,or just pay deposit in cash on arrival and get it back when you leave.

The basic reason most places take a deposit is so they are not fully out of pocket for bookings that they loose  ie. if we take a booking in good faith then other customers come and wish to book we have to turn those customers away and loose business completely so to try to stop customers doing this most places take a deposit. I hope this assists with why places take a deposit, currently we don't but we have had a few people not turn up or cancel when they were suppose to be checking in.

Good of you to do so, I hope it works for you, for many the amount of no shows has made them change policy on this matter.

After a number of no shows I changed my policy. I at times do not take a booking deposit (return customers or customers of friends of mine).

And after reading a post from a BM that he pre-books two accommodation for the same dates ( 1 cheap and 1 expensive) and depending on how much cash he has saved by the time of his trip he will not turn up at one.

I can see the need for a booking deposit.
