BANGKOK, 5 July 2012 – A gift and premium fair is now underway in Bangkok, and the organizers expect the 3-day event to generate hundreds of millions of baht in revenue.

Deputy Commerce Minister Siriwat Kajornprasart said on Wednesday that the Thailand Gift and Premium Fair (TGP) 2012, which kicked off at BITEC exhibition center in Bangkok, is being participated by 104 producers, importers and exporters.

He said that all the 165 booths present at the event are featuring new and innovative product designs of this year not only from Thailand, but also Malaysia, Singapore, China, Germany, Switzerland and France.

The Deputy Commerce Minister asserted that this year’s TGP focuses on trade negotiations to enable entrepreneurs to expand their businesses.

At the event, 3 seminars to discuss the business opportunities after the realization of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), the professional approaches to gift and premium selection and the start-up of the gift and premium business have also been planned for interested visitors.

Thai Gifts Premiums & Decorative Association’s Honorary President Jirabool Vittayasing added that around 6,000 visitors and more than 300 million baht worth of business transactions are expected at the TGP 2012, which opens until July 6th. The forecast revenue is a 20-percent increase from last year’s record of 240 million baht.

Mr. Jirabool said that the annual value of Thailand’s gift and premium business is estimated at 11 billion baht with the yearly growth rate of 10-20 percent.

He went on to say that apparel, bags, stationeries and office supplies have been this year’s popular items, which are predicted to grow around 15 percent in 2012.
