Hi all

Does anyone one know if there is a duty to be paid on electricals, namely televisions. Im moving my furniture over next month and want to know if its better to bring my own. Ive looked in the shops around Patts, and the small ones are as cheap there as they are here. But the bigger 60" ones are way more expensive. Thanks for any info at all.

I believe once you are relocated you have a 6 month period were you can bring in your household appliances duty free - providing you can prove you have the correct documentation to show you already owned said goods and have the correct long time visa ( retiree) etc

Be careful because the tuner may be different in different countries.  I know that a TV in the US will not tune into stations in England so the same may be true here.  I have found that shipping cost are too high to make shipping things here feasible.  If you have a retirement visa you can import furniture duty free but it is a nightmare of a process and you will end up paying somebody a bribe.  Just bite the bullet and buy one here.

Hey bud, sell all of your large appliances and furniture before you relocate... Shipping fees and logistics are a total nightmare... And will cost you more than the depreciated value of the things you already own... Start a new... Avoid the hassles and headaches
