New Dancewatchers VIP condo #25-987 in VT6 - review

I recently had a chance to check out the new Dancewatchers VIP condo #25-987 in my favorite location - View Talay 6:

http://dancewatchers.com/View_Talay_6_Pattaya_25-987.html

One of the cool features of the room is the programmable “mood lights” that add a unique touch, and it certainly makes an impression on the girls. By coincidence I had just stayed at a hotel in AC that had similar lighting effects – the “New Millennium Standard Suites” at Angeles Beach Club:

http://www.angelesbeachclubhotel.com/accomodation.php

But where the ABC room was ~4,500B/night the new Dancewatchers room was a fraction of that price, and being on the 25th floor has some awesome views as well. Some girls were actually afraid of the balcony, but most seemed pretty thrilled at being so high.

Studio rooms are usually my preference over 1-2 bedroom rooms, though having a separate bedroom is sometimes nice when you have a (couple) LTs sleeping in. This new VIP room has a cool feature that actually gives the best of both worlds – it has a thick, folding divider wall that you can separate the bed area from the TV area. And since the TV area has the AC, it means you leave your lovely BF sleeping in quiet, warm cozy comfort while you crank up the AC and videos in the other room (there is also a built-in fan to optionally circulate the AC in the sleeping area as well). The front door is also extra thick to provide better soundproofing and security.

The fittings of the room are all high quality; especially nice are the full floor to ceiling mirrors across from the bed – I feel a must-have for any monger’s room (especially for pics ;) The shower also has a glass divider wall from the bedroom which makes for a nice tease to start the evening…

The high-speed internet and professional workstation area & office chair also make for a good, productive work environment as well.

The only hassle with the room is that being on such a high floor it can suck if you get outside and discover that you’ve left your phone back up in the room. But even then the VT6 building is relatively sparsely populated so there usually isn’t much of a wait for the elevators – and you often have the elevator to yourself so the 25th floor usually translated to only another few seconds of actual ride time.

Overall I was really impressed with the quality of the room and plan to repeat in the future – especially when I just spent 4,500B for a similar room in AC (and I hear that the Hilton hotel across the street in Central Festival is even more expensive). So bottom line: great quality for a great value in the best location in town - highly recommended.

Perfecting my ability to "let that which does not matter truly slide"

  • 2 years later...

I'm staying in this condo (25-987) during my first trip in April. So far comms have been good, and the price (2000 baht per night for 12 nights), although high by some standards, i think is reasonable given what is on offer.

I've only found one issue so far which was the 450 baht charge for exchange rates and Paypal fees. This is exactly how it appears in the voucher -

Cash or PayPal credit =   9,450 baht and with exchange rates and PayPal fees  = 9,000 baht..

Basically after paying the deposit of 9,450, only 9,000 of it actually counts towards the final bill, but i'm not going to get too upset about this. It's only about £10, but it's something to be aware of. Also bear in mind the deposit is non refundable, so be sure of your dates before you book!

I'll do a comprehensive review on this apartment as SmellyFarang has done above, either when i'm in Patts or on my return, just to let everyone know if the standards have slipped at all. I'll be there almost 3 years to the day after SF.

One final thing (and this is entirely subjective) is the lime green on one half of the apartment (can't find a decent image of it but you get the idea below, there's more pics here for anyone interested - http://dancewatchers.com/View_Talay_6_Pattaya_25-987.html.) I had originally dismissed this apartment in favour of another that turned out to be booked, simply because of the horrible green décor. I know it's personal taste, but why not just paint all the walls white and appeal to everyone if it's a rental? Anyway, it's no big deal, just a bit 1970s for my taste!

As i said i'll give a full report/review as soon as i can.

Cheers :)

Be interested to hear what you make of VT6. It's on my list of possibles for future trips - at least until construction starts next door.

I'm staying in Jomtien next trip, but gave up on Dancewatchers as seemed expensive.

Paying about 1100 a night (inc. elec. & water) in VT7 with someone else.

I couldn't get a comprehensive answer as to when the construction actually started next door, so my main priority was getting a condo on the Hilton side and high up. With this one being on the 25th floor i doubt i would hear anything even if it was above the construction.

The price isn't cheap, but i do think on the face of it you get what you pay for. I looked at so many other hotels and came so close to booking, and would then read a terrible review about smelly toilets or awful water pressure or joiner fees......in the end i just thought sod it, i'm getting a condo. Overall it cost me about £100 more than i wanted to spend, but if it has maintained it's standards and is as clean and comfortable as others have mentioned, then i'm happy to spend the extra.

Keep us posted about VT7 also, i did look into that one but with it being my first trip i didn't want anything too far out. At that price though it's definitely something i'd look into for next time.

Cheers

Unfortunately, not going until June - as you'll see from my Countdown :-)

I wouldn't have looked at Jomtien but am meeting a friend I haven't seen in years who has Thai wife and daughter. Not sure I'd want to do the baht bus all the time in high season, but don't expect a problem in the summer.
