in general travel lightweight coming and going.

here's a few items that won't be too much to take with

all the toiletries that aren't bulky, comb, toothbrush, ibuprofen, fingernail clippers, chapstick, gum, mints, smallest bottle of lotion etc, etc.

pen and mini notebook

extra photocopy of passport

itenerary travel info all printed out

emergency phone numbers and useful contacts

a thin book to read

portable music device

sunglasses

decent walking shoes

belt

on the way home

clean up your possessions, when packing, toss out everything that isn't of value and or that customs might be interested in.

toss you camera flash memory card, toss any scraps of paper, toss every little ephemeral piece of data, pirated cds, fake stuff, what not

toss out your dirty underwear and socks shoes shorts, anything halfway used up crap thats worthless.

You only need an ATM card.

Everything else you 'need' is cheaper here.

Buy a new suitcase here too, so you can just take hand luggage.

it is fucking hot mate. shorts tees and shirts. i couldnt imagine wearing jeans there.

Agree mostly, shorts and t shirts are my normal clothes, however there are a few places I go to where jeans are needed. Differ nightclub is one. I also prefer to fly in jeans as some of the long haul flights can get quite cold so would always take at least 1 pair. But 99% of the tourist places are shorts friendly.

I always travel by the motto;

Take half the clothes and twice the cash!

Then you won't have a problem!

If you use sunscreen bring some from Farangland - I did not like the stuff they sold in LOS. Also, sometimes long pants are nice, e.g. when the mosquitoes are bad. But don't wear jeans, too hot, get super lightweight moisture wicking hiking pants from REI. Actually, even get super lightweight moisture wicking shorts and tshirts. Good stuff.

There's no place you would wear a light pair of slacks, collared shirt (short sleeve of course) and shoes ?

What's the "dress code" in the late night discos a la Insomnia ?

Sneakers, shorts and a T-shirt OK in those places ?

Wear what you want to wear, whatever you are comfortable in.

Hell, for NYE a couple years back, I wore a white long sleeved shirt, pinstriped vest w/matching slacks, and a tie...

Worked for me, I got a *lot* of attention from the ladies.

Sorry, guess I didn't phrase that question quite right,,,,,

So basically sneakers, shorts and a T-shirt would be acceptable in Insomnia and places of that sort ? i.e. NO dress code ANYWHERE ?

And if a guy WAS there in say, light slacks and a short sleeve collared shirt, HE would be the EXCEPTION, and not the rule, correct ?

TIA

I personally would consider sneaks, shorts, and t-shirt a touch underdressed for Insomnia in the late evening.

You would not be alone if you dressed that way and would not suffer that much (if at all) from dressing like that

if you were otherwise presentable. Light slacks and collared shirt would be fairly normal as well, and not stand

out at all.

My usual wear in Pattaya is a decent pair of jeans and either a nice t-shirt or loose linen short sleeve button

down shirt. (I live in Texas and wear jeans throughout the summer, so Pattaya temperatures are not really a

big deal to me).

It really does boil down to what you are comfortable in wearing. The ladies pick up on how comfortable/confident

you are, so if you're good to go in a t-shirt and shorts, or in a full on formal wear, or even full body themed leotards

(most recent Wildestock...) you will have a good time.
