The Koh Chang Experience

Piece Corp

Recommended Posts

I went back to Klong Plu waterfall today.  A foreigner must pay 200 baht admission to the Koh Chang National Park, but this includes parking for your vehicle.  Just outside the gate, and old lady will attempt to divert you to a private paid parking area.  There is no reason to pay for parking, it's just another Thai scam that will set you back all of 10 baht.  The old lady got me last month, but this month I flipped her the bird. :Evil_Laugh::Finger4:

And they were serving free zombies at the Pool Bar today to commemorate Halloween

To complete my stay, the Amari presented me with a brownie birthday cake.  Icing on the cake indeed, the room upgrade was worth 12000 baht over the length of my stay. Thoroughly enjoyed my time on Koh Chang and the great customer service at the Emerald Cove.  Next visit, I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

Thank you 4 sharing . This proves that the  PA forum is a good source for information about Thailand in general.( Not only for mongering )

I have not been on this forum 4 a while . I searched the web 4 information on Koh Chang but all I got was sites corrupted with commercials for hotels, flights and more but no actual information on the island .

Then I logged in here again and found this .  :ThumbUp6:

I meant the PA forum is the best for information on Thailand . No reason to go on other sites .

  • 2 weeks later...

I just come back from my second trip in 2 months, awesome place and I haven't even scratched the surface, will be going back when it quietens down a bit next year for a longer trip. did`nt get to see as much as I would have liked as I went with some friends on our big bikes and they have been before so weren't that interested in looking everywhere, so will take a more relaxed trip next time and look at my own pace, any body recommend some nice beach bungalows or places for staying as I am hoping to take my son there next year and I have only stayed in white sands the 2 times I went but the p-laces further up the island seem nicer , I went by the laggon area and was stunning too, any reccomendations welcome, thx paul....

You can check out the bungalows right behind Beach Tango café on white sand beach. Beach Tango is great for breakfast and snacks.

When on KC, rent a car instead of bikes. Much safer and gives you more flexibility exploring as you can keep your stuff in the trunk.

When heading out to Bang Bao pier, be sure to check out an all-day snorkeling trip. Well worth it as well.

DaffyDuck that would be Sang Arun bungalows i guess you refer to.

A good girl gives you happiness and a bad girl gives you experience both are essential in life so enjoy every girlfriend!

Sounds right to me. Used to play football on the beach with the lads that worked at beach tango and the little bar to the left(if your looking at the sea) Tiger bar I think its called. Would always cut through the bungalows to get onto the sand

Can you recommend any resort bungalows or just bungalows in a quiet area of White sands? If not, another quiet part of the island  without noisy partying neighbours (january)

The idea is to to relax by reading and meditating in quiet circumstances but still having the possibility to meet people and having a beer in the evening .

Btw the bungalows on  Agoda are way too fancy and expensive . (about 1000 a night)

In january I would think it would be difficult to find what your looking for for under 1000thb a night. Elephant and castle bungalows are in a quiet location between whitesands and chai chet, this area is called pearl beach. There is also saffron on sea and pennys bungalows nearby. In the middle of 2 spots for having a drink and meeting people/girls. http://www.kohchang2.com/ is a good site with probably 95% of the islands accommadation listed. Klong Prao is quiet with out the night life near by. Im there January if you wanna have a drink

Does anyone actually read the thread, before asking questions, again? ;-)

I always pay 1000 baht a night for Sang Arun (the newer constructed ones). Good deal.

Even in January?

Agoda or booking.com are your best bets. should be plenty of decent priced rooms around then. alternatively just show up and have a look around. If you don't mind getting a bike then staying in pearl beach or chai chet will be cheaper and your only 5-10 minutes away from whitesands, which is where the hub of the lady action is. However there are a lot of inexperienced riders about so just need to be extra careful at the minute. I'm hearing the ambulance on average twice a day.

Koh Chang isn't overly busy at present and there are a lot of girls about. Not just in whitesands. There are some bars along the main strip in Chai Chet and a few towards the bottom of Klong Prao and Walking Street in Kai Bae has a handful of bars with some lookers dotted about. Theres a few on Badoo that work in bars, quite easy to spot. The freelance scene has changed slightly, many of the girls would finish at the bars and go to One club, now called the bar but seems to be permanently shut, so a few will go to Sabay Bar but the lights come on there at 2am so many dont make it far, your only saving 300-500 on a barfine of course. Generally I just give 1000 baht for longtime, only had one that tried to negotiate for more.

Any other info just ask, I have many pictures from around the island but it will take me forever to resize etc and BM Piececorp has already added some lovely photos so don't want to hijack.

Happy to help
