HELP!computer problems no picture

Turned my PC and now i have no picture. Nothing only a warning on the screen reading "signal over range".

I can use on safe mode, which is shit. No sound , no itunes no picture uploads its doing my head in!!

Please help. How can i fix this problem?

Its happened before and then just gone away.

Please please help me!

Resolution may be set to high or video driver is bad - in safe mode lower the resolution to the lowest around 800 by 600 then you should be able to log on normally. Reinstall your video driver or if this does not work try system restore to the date that everything work well. That my guess although there is 1 or 2 more conditions that can cause this problem.

That would be my guess too. Video card, driver or settings are screwed up.

Turn down the resolution in Safe Mode to the lowest available. Reboot. You should have a "picture" though it may look a little weird. Download the latest drivers available for your graphics card. In case you don't know what card you have, if you are using Win 7, right click the desktop and choose Screen Resolution and click Advanced Settings. Install the new drivers. Reboot. Should be OK now

Thanks guys. I will try these options. I tried to lower screen resolution but it wouldn't let me apply 800x600.

Is this because i'm in safe mode with networking?

I suppose you have small monitor like 17 or 19 inch? The easiest way is to connect the CPU to another HD monitor which support 1920 x 1080 P resolution and then bring it back to normal resolution. You also can connect your CPU to your LCD TV through VGA port and do the same.

 

Some times it happens due to different Htz selection too, make sure it is 50 / 60 Htz.

Reminds me of a computer call centre joke. A long story short - Woman calls with computer problems, nothing on the screen etc. Call centre guy asks her to get some info of the back of the computer. Can not the lady says. Can not see. Why not? the guy says. Lady says 'The power has been off for the last hour.'

Tried it didn't work.

Also changed screen resolution to the lowest, applied it and rebooted only to see the see the "signal over range" message mocking me!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... this computers going out the f@@king window in a minute!!!

What is your monitor model & make? You can do some settings in the monitor itself and trying doing reset. Chances are low but might work.

Check the Htz both CPU & Monitor, they need to be same same.

You can also go to Device Manager and UNinstall your display driver, and then reboot and let windows install fresh ones for you.

Don't want to sound stupid but if i uninstall disply driver how will i view any thing else?
