making a painting in Pattaya/Bangkok

hi all,

I am planning of owning a nice painting in my house back home.

I have a photograph which I would like to see converted in a nice (good!) painting.

 

anybody has any experience in this field? I am visiting Bangkok and Pattaya, and don't mind paying between 180 and 200 euro for a painting 16" x 20" or something like that. There are 2 full people on the photo.

 

just for the image, lets say it is this photo I want to be painted. (but in reality the photo is more modest, nobody would feel offended in any way to paint it for me, but there are 2 people on it, in a forest-setting like the bottom one, but person-setting like the first one)

Come out of soi8 onto second rd and cross over into new plaza. Next to tue tattoo ship before all the bars start, there is a painers studi. I have used him in the past for a large family portrait. I think it will fall within your budget, and I was happy with the result. You will need to give him about a week.

thanks, butcher! That is kind of the thing I am looking for. A week is no problem, I have almost 3 weeks to spend :-)

 

Was it easy to get the painting home? Did you get is rolled up (was it oil-painting?) or is there any risk in that?

Go down the side of mikes shopping mall on 2nd rd, there's an alley called 'art street'. They will do anything for you there - and the artists are truly excellent.

 

Edit to add: you will be able to take it home rolled up as a back/stretch frame will cost you extra.

Whomever does the painting for you will prepare it for your journey home with you there.

I agree Art street is the place to go for that. I have had a few paintings done there. I found it a lot less expensive to have the painting framed there (1000 baht). I got one framed in the U.K which was around 5000baht. There was no problem bringing the framed painting home. The artist boxed it and i brought it to the airplane as hand luggage. If it is too big for the overhead storage then they will put it in the hold just before you board your flight.

Good to hear they prepare the painting for travelling - another related question for those in the know. Is it possible/feasible to have the canvases mounted in LOS and shipped home, or safer/cheaper to do it when I arrive back in Oz?

Dont know how much that would cost you in Oz, but on the whole the frames are cheaper in LOS.

I would take the artwork home in a roll myself - as you could still take the frame(s) (in 4 pieces) too.

I'm talking main mounting frames here, not back/stretch frames, which the prices I guess would be negligable with what you pay at home.

Plus I'd feel a lot safer with them in a roll than already mounted.

I am so sorry, but they are 'just' models from http://swimsuit-heaven.net/ .

 

I like grils in swimsuits, that's why I chose those pictures :-) I have thousends of those sorry!
