What's going on with my laptop.

I got a Toshiba Satellite L500 running Win 7. Never had any troubles at all since buying it a couple years ago. The past few days the keyboard be doing crazy shit like writing a string of tttttttttttttttttt or aaaaaaaaaaaaa or putting a and t in where I didn't type. Sometimes it goes crazy putting ttttttt or aaaaa in all over the place and won't stop, so I have to reboot. At first I thought a virus or maybe corrupted driver, so I reformatted and reinstalled but it does the same shit again immediately. Sometimes is worse than other times. I done searches online but can't find anything that helps. Does anyone have any idea about this? Never any other letters - just t or a.

Hello Matey

I have had a few times, just what you have described. It was Fecking annoying having the @ Key in the " Key and vice versa plus a few others. Nopt matter what I did I could not sort it and had to Reboot.

It then occurred a few more times, and a Mate whom works in IT said it was Shit in the Keypad. He suggested I turn it upside down giving it lots of gentle taps to get the Shit out, then hoover it out as taking off the Keypad then putting back was beyond me, and unlikely to fit properly again.

This seemed to sort it out nicely and every so often I do this and never had it happen again.

I roll my own Fags and smoke when on it, amazing how much Baccy and Ash comes out with this Tap method. So I can see sense in what he said. Maybe try it and see how you get on.

Cheers

Your laptop is getting old, A and T button is worn out, Computer repair shop might be able to fix that...

I'd say Ghosty has it right and you got something gooey in your keypad :WhoSaw1:

I got some biscuit crumbs or somat in mine, so some keys i hit don't work.

You could always try one of these..............karcher.jpg

No it's not the a & t buttons. If I hit any button it types that letter plus aaaaaaaaa & tttttttttttttttt, backspace does it most of all.

I just turned it off and turned it upside down and gave it a dozen good slaps on the bum, a fair bit of dust and bits of flakey stuff floated down. Don't have a Hoover here in Thailand, so can't do that. But it seems to be OK now. If it does the crazy shit again I'll take it to a tech to open up.

I,m no expert... Looks likely Ghosty is right.. Something under the keyboard that needed to be cleaned.. Tuk.com does the cleaning ?

Depending on the keyboard sometimes the actual keys can be popped out for cleaning. (don't do too many unless you have a good memory :WinkGrin1: )

Personally I would drop into Tukcom and have the keyboard removed and cleaned.

Seems as good as gold now - fingers crossed - hasn't misbehaved since I gave it a good slapping.

So I guess that was it, a piece of crap stuck in the keyboard.

Apart from the jet washer suggestion lol, a blast from the air hose down at the fuel station might help.

Otherwise, maybe a Kleenex across the keyboard might be a good idea in future. :hello09:

Nah the asshole thing has started doing it again. Went great for a few hours but just began playing up the same. I'm going to the gas station tomorrow to fill up the car so I'll take notebook too and give the keyboard a blast of air. And if it plays up after that then I guess it'll be going in for a service. Anyway, I'll be getting my Galaxy smart phone this week so maybe I won't be using this laptop too much after then...
