Root a smart phone

Recommended Posts

I'll be buying a new Sansung galaxy smart phone in a couple days. I've heard people talk about root a phone. Can anyone explain what this means and will I have to do it to my new phone. I'm from Australia and the only way I know to root a mobile is drop it off the top of a 20-storied building, or drop it in a swimming pool. It'll be well & truly rooted then...

Its means to gain administrator rights of the phone. So you can install 3rd party applications. Mod your phone by flash your ROM to a non official KIES ROM from Samsung. Like Muiu or CM9 (cyanogenmod)

Just do a quick search in googel on root "Samsung Galaxy (your model), CM9 for "Samsung Galaxy (your model)"

Its also alot of youtube vids explain how to root, flash, mod etc etc.

Think we talking about different models Edge, the one I'll be buying is the new Samsung Galaxy Y Duo, they only just released and I can't get one until Tuesday. The cost is 5,990 Bt, that the fixed price set by Samsung. Thanks for the vid. I hope it makes sense to me.

The Galaxy S3 should be out soon. It may be worth waiting a while if you are interested in a Galaxy S2.

LOL...funny watching that guy in the vid. At the end he saying "your phone should be rooted now" I reckon he's right, if I plugged my new mobile into my computer and try do the things he does, i reckon my phone will be rooted for sure...lol

It will depend on the price. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even use most of the S2's capabilities.

I was in TukCom with Gary and he said look at the new model, which was 22k, but in hindsight that turned out to be the 'Note' I think.

It's reasonably small, but bigger than a phone.

How much do you want for your S2 then? :Think1:

LOL, yes as we say in Strine "it'll be rooted" At this stage I can't see myself ever needing to do something like that to my new mobile. I'm sure there are more than enough Samsung/Android apps to keep me happy (and bamboozled - lol)

Cheers
