Bars Closed April 8-10 ?

Here's a quote from Stickman yeasterday: "All bars, nightspots and entertainment places have been asked to close from April 8 - 10 as a mark of respect at the time of the funeral of HRH Princess Bejaratana. That's just a few days before Songkran, a time which I reckon Thailand is best avoided." Anybody know anything ? I fucking arrive at 11:30 on the 7th. wj

The funeral is on the 9th - no drinking at all permitted during the day I would have thought. The last royal death a few years ago saw disruptions to the night life for months,no music and early closing etc

 

Saying that I have been in Patts for the Kings Bday and more recently, Buddha day and it was possible to get a drink. I heard there is an election on the 7th? Not sure. Not a good time to arrive mate!

Regardless of whatever day it is you can always get a drink if you need one badly, the little Thai mom & pop shops still sell grog, you can find bars that will sell you beer in coffee mugs.

Sometimes the closed bars are even better, the girls hang out in front of the bar and you avoid the bar fine and mandatory lady drink. Some also have back room parties going and will invite you in.

itspretty dead but some girls available and some bars open in a low key atmosphere

most beer bars were quiet as well ad the ones that were open had open bottles of beer easily seen while driving past them on the baht bus
