Hey guys anyone here into the UFC, if you arent sure what I am talking about it is mixed martial arts which is fought in an octagon. It involves all forms of martial arts including kickboxing, karate, judo, jujitsu, boxing, sambo and every other form of martial arts. If you are interested just look up highlights from the following fighters Fedor, Cro Cop, Anderson Silva, Alistair Overeem, Wanderlei Silva just to name a few but there are so many. Also look up Pride highlights. If you like to watch the grappling and submission game google people like the Gracies, Eddie Bravo, Diaz Brothers and watch some of the brazillian jujitsu.

The UFC has just announced a whole lineup of some massive heavy weight bouts and I can't wait to see how they play out. If you like boxing it does not mean you will enjoy mma but have a look. Its a rapidly growing sport which has taken over all of the other combat sports, especially boxing which is a dying dinosaur currently. The corruption and ludicrous amount of divisions and organisations has led to a rapid decline in boxing fans and the current superstars of boxing will be the last superstars that boxing has. We have the Klitschkos, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Hopkins, Marquez and Cotto. These are the big names and there wont be anymore which is a shame. THe biggest fight in history could have happened but because of being greedy and letting his ego dictate the contract Pacquiao and Mayweather wont happen which would have been monumental.

I've been following UFC/MMA since I was a kid.

At some point though, it got too saturated. It seemed like there was a some sort of show every week or more often. I quit watching cold turkey and don't even know who the top guys are.

Boxing is not the only place where top fights never happen. How many years have commentators been saying that Fedor is top dog - but Fedor refused to fight anyone noteworthy? Plenty of top fights do not happen in UFC also.

And boxing is much bigger than you think. Take a look at top boxing fights, top fights, and they completely obliterate what UFC guys make. Top boxer will get like 50-60 million for a fight. Top UFC guys will get 2-3million after PPV revenue share/etc. Just because Dana White keeps saying that Boxing is dying doesn't make it true. Does UFC have any legitimate main-brand sponsors yet?

It has got a little too saturated but that is a good thing it is growing in popularity.

Yes Fedor didnt make it to the UFC but that as due to his management. He was offered upwards of 20 mil for a 5 fight contract and turned it down. Other than that most of the worlds best fighters have made it to the UFC, if you take a look at todays roster its pretty well stacked. Unlike boxing if the fans want a fight the UFC will listen and make it happen thanks to the connectivity through social media.

Boxing is no where near as big, yes they will get 50 million for a fight, but there is only maybe 2-3 fights a year that are worth watching. They really have only 5 fighters that will bring the big dollars in and the rest are just fillers. And as is the case with most boxing fight cards the undercards are usually a miserable display of boxing. The art of boxing is not the same as it was and the massive corruption involved with people taking dives and the massive mis matches for obscure titles has ruined what was once a great sport People who still want to watch boxing will fork out 3 times a year to watch the PPV, UFC is not only on PPV but it has thousands of hours of free content through the numerous media outlets.

FOX has just signed with he UFC on a massive 7 year multi platform deal. Bud Light and Harley Davidson are major sponsors. The Ultimate Fighter is a very succesful TV series that is into its 15th season unlike many of the boxing equivilents which have lasted at most 2 seasons.

I thought it UFC was better when it first started and there didn't seem to be any weight classes! I thought that Gacie was one of the most technically gifted fighters ever.

Last time I watched any though was when my brother-in-law fought in it in london about five years+ ago.

The UFC is already saturating tv you can have a conversation with just about anyone these days about it.. l have followed boxing for nearly 15 years religously constantly checking websites and buying fights and it was uncommon to be able to talk boxing with your general sports fan

.. Unless it is a big name who l like to watch in the UFC these days l can take it or leave it, as for the boxing match up lately there have been some really good and enjoyable fights. Everyone wants to see Mayweather vs Pacquiao but both are playing the game l think looking after there own pockets for the future.

The Klitschko brothers are the heavyweight champions but they are so boring to watch as they are not getting challenged in the ring and its hard to see that they will in the near future.

Yeah overeem and JDS is a massive fight. Could go either way very much looking forward to it

Yeah the Fedor rumour has been going around for a long time, I will beleive it when I see Fedor wearing a UFC shirt and shaing hands with Dana and Lorenzo

Dana said probably a month or two ago he wouldnt be offering fedor anything if it was up to him..

Overeem is a big unit that will be a good fight.

Its mainly mayweather who refuses to go 50/50 on the purse and paper view. He should just got halves and have the fight of the decade it would be a showdown for the ages and I would open my wallet to pay for that but definately no ther fights have caught my attention or dollar. The Klitchkos dominate but it is very stale to watch there is no flare in there boxing at all, the Jab is it. I still watch them but will wait for a free watch online wouldnt fork out the cash. Unlike the tyson era when I was buying all the PPV. Like I said the stars of today will be the last for boxing I cant see any up and comers causing a stir even close to its current superstars.

Trust me if they could get Fedor they would because the super fights would be amazing and the revenue would be huge. But there is oportunity for maybe Lesnar V Fedor in M1.

On another point concerning the pays of the fighters take a look at ESPN's story on Fighter Pay in the UFC and then take a look at the video footage unedited of the entire interview with UFC owner Lorenzo Fertita. A entry level fighter in the UFC makes 6 and 6 ( $6000 to show and $6000 to win ) a fighter on a recent ESPN boxing night earned something like $300 to turn up and fight. So maybe the top guys arent earning as much as boxing but the average per fighter is much higher.

People like George St Pierre are super stars in Canada being sponsored by the likes of Gatorade which is as main stream as it gets.

Mayweather is trying to say he is the draw card for the fight and by payper view history he is the bigger earner so he is working out that way...

not sure if l agree.... l think Pacquiao''s offer of a 45% split with the winner taking the remaining10% was very fair...

lm do the same as you with the Klitschko's did you see Wladimir interview on fightnews.com explaining he fights who they put in front of him not his choice who he fights...

i think there are still so good fights to be made in boxing but it has lost alot of appeal my favourites were Gatti and Lewis to watch in there prime,

What did he do that broke the RULES then?

He seemed a decent bloke, I genuinely believe him when he said he never went looking for aggro, it just came to him - It happens to me too, especially in Pattaya. A few BM's who met him spoke well of him, it was a fantastic TR too.

UFC has never been better, i love watching it but it is clear there are some fighters that get easy roads and passes at times, but then it is a money making business so you cant blame them.

Yeah Kultjit doesnt have the best record but i cant help but think he should be fighting at middleweight or light heavey max. but gotta respect him for getting in cage at all. You can find a recent fight he won last year on his FB page. was a good fight.

Regarding Kul he is a genuenly sound bloke, but honest opinion is he was willing to prove his skill to any one who challenged him made for great reading in his TR, but i cant help but think its not the best way to be(MY OPINION ONLY) i dont do it myself i find its more hassle than its worth and its easier to laugh it off and walk away than what happens if you do kick the shit out of someone.

I also like to add that the Pride fighting had some absolute great matches put on with crazy exhibition matches being put on like sap and nogeria. I didnt like that there were no elbows but the stops on the ground were a great feature made them much more realistic.

I do hope that in future the UFC starts allowing kicks and knees to grounded opponents as its far mroe realistic in terms of making training for fights more accurate.

Myself i do a little BJJ but Muay Thai and boxing is my love and do that 4-5times a week and have a couple of fights experience. Theres plenty of other people here who also train but for the professional fighters i would say patts isnt the best place with all its distractions.

Yeah, John Olav Einemo (UFC) lives in Patts, and his career isn't going too well atm.

I hope he gets another fight and proves himself, he gassed out early in his last fight.

I have been watching MMA (UFC) for the past 4 to 5 years, did'nt really watch a lot the pride fights live but saw a lot on tape. The prodigy, baby BJ Pen was really my guy,but seeing his decline is not really surprising I guess it is the price he had to pay taking for taking on the best welterweight -st pierre twice .Who didnt watch the fight between Ben henderson and Frankie..what a classic,a rematch is in the offing and I am hoping it is as good as the last one.And there are so many others, one of the last being the classic 5 round slug fest between Dan henderson and Shogun.,, Now Jon Jones vs Rashad -this might be a classic or a dull fight but it certainly is worth watching or the final fight of wrestling super star brock,no matter what anyone says about that guy he did make an impact in the UFC,it's just that he finally met his match in Overeems..a monster at 6 5.I even read somewhere that he owns a gym in Thailand....the k1 kick boxing champion. Now the fight between him and Junior is another one that is currently making the news.UFC is certainly on the up..just too many good fights in the future..lets not forget the so called little men .faber and his archrival cruz or the Aldo a monster of a little man.,...names that send shivers down my spin...

the axe murder..rampage...the iceman...mr america...the man with greatest left leg,.,mirko col crop..anderson silva (the greatest),st-pierre and a lot more..... mmashare.com ..good site!!!!

I love boxing, been following this sport for a long time, currently as most of the posters have stated it is in decline,Mayweather, pacman and a few others are the only noticeable stars, but lets admit these are great fighters. If floyd and pacman do fight it would probably be the greatest fight in history -the brilliant defensive skills against the non stop attacking style of pacman..boy cant wait to see this happen.I still believe floyd has the edge but none the less it would certainly make for a great fight....J

as was errol zimmerman before he competed in the 2010 k1 finals..... he came in fatter than i ever saw, made me laugh and i said to my mate, i know what hes been up to!!

i have to say regarding Olav, he came in better looking shape than his last few fights really bulked up but still carried quite a bit of fat(when i say fat for fighters it doesnt mean overweight or FAT compared to the general population)

There are UFC top guys, and UFC top draws.

Guys like Couture and Tito guaranteed PPV sales. And they pretty much never fought of anyone of importance. They kept getting cans.

I used to love Pride. Then realized it was quite a show too. Very few of their fighters made a splash in other organizations. And when you rewatch the fights, you will find that the top guys were also usually given cans to beat on.

It's really interesting how UFC started. Basically, Gracie family was trying to promote BJJ so they figured they will put on a show with these dummies who don't know how to fight and have a BJJ beat them. That was their whole point for having the early UFCs - to recruit more BJJ gym customers.

I used to love the early UFCs also, but when I re-watched them recently, it was pretty lame... Sort of like watching girls fight or some back yard newbs brawling it up on youtube. No skill whatsoever and some retarded moves, left and right.

what you are saying about the early UFC's is spot on right down to finding out who started the whole thing, but BJJ is a very good and powerful fighting system but i am biased as i practice it a small amount. Muay Thai IS THE VERY BEST THO :) (unbiased opinion there!:D!)

while there were a lot of very obviously fixed fights in pride. There were also a hell of a lot great matches and in the main i would say most matches were not fixes. But i get that it only takes a couple of clearly fixed fights to loose all credability(coleman tajera pride 10 was the worst ever and so obviouos). also you see a lot of fights where usa/ufc fighters are put against clearly inferiour jap fighters but end up winning, belforts matches were some of the worst examples, and the jap fighter ends up winning!

But yes when you run a business like this and you have fan favorites you need them to keep winning to stay huge draws. but plenty of great matches and worth watching for any mma fans.

UFC does it a lot better and at least number 1 contenders get the fights against the champs for the most part. I dont think you could ever have a 100% unbiased organisation when it come to the money involved in building a lot of these fighters up

Yeah Sapp Nogeuira was amazing, Fedor and Randleman was insane to see fedor come back and secure that kimora after getting his what appeared to be his neck broken.

Yeah without a doubt Brock Lesnar made an impact on mma he is a freak athlete who I beleive would have benefited from being brought in slowly and allowed to evolve into a mixed martial artist. He was just simply rushed in for the cash grab but it was still impressive he managed to capture the HW title. I think if he was allowed to deevelop naturally and get used to taking strikes and work on his ground game and striking he really could have made a serious career of it. But it doesnt matter now he took the cash and went on. Definately the Diverticulitis did not help with them removing a large part of his intentestine, but he should have known that there would be repercussions for having a strickly red meat diet living out there int he woods.
