10 months since we started power users! some results

The power user group was invented to raise donations to bring the forum fast forward with its marketing and traffic campaign, we now have huge keyword rank leaps in google, which would have took many years without the donations. A big thanks to all the previous power users and the current ones. Also a thanks to anyone that has made a donation, small or large. Lots of guys have said to me that the forum has saved them alot of money, I know that its not just the forum itself, its the other contributing members that have helped, they often say to me that the forum saved there ass, well this is the opportunity to help the forum back, by helping us promote the forum somehow. If we get more members, we get more advice, reviews, news, pictures and funny stories.

In laymans terms, the donations are used to pay people (cheap) to add links to various websites, sometimes we buy banner advertising, the more links that we receive on relevant websites, the higher we get on google for various search terms, this means that we get more people clicking on our site. Therefore we get far more traffic and member signups than every other pattaya forum put together. We tend to aim for higher quality links on travel sites which accompany an article.

I am fully aware that its not a competition just to simply get more traffic, but its a race to get more members to get more discounts on our discount card scheme that has just been relaunched. By targeting mongerers and anyone searching for topics of Pattaya, Bangkok, Bar girls, gogos, nightclubs, it means that we get more relevant members, having more members means that there is more questions and answers to almost everything asked. I have always seen Pattaya Forums too slow compared to some of the technology ones and there has always been too many similar threads covering the same subjects over and over. By attracting more members, it means we have more topics to choose from, this creates a better user experience and means that members are more likely to stick around opposed to going back to facebook. Some critics may think that its simply a greedy drive to make more money from traffic, well anyone that knows me, knows I love pattaya, bargirls, nightlife scene and I enjoy talking about it. If I was doing this to make money I would have to cut out sexy pictures and bar girl talk like Thaivisa, because very few advertisers want to be associated with our "dirty" forum, but I love it being an underground forum, at the same time its well known in the mongering circles in Pattaya, which is what I want. We need more mongerers coming to Pattaya and claim Walking Street back!

 

I would like to make the site more social able with instant messaging features that are easier to access. But I have to wait for the forum coders to get their ass in gear. Members can already chat privately through the Chat system, but its not known enough. Another way to kill boredom is to watch the "spy" system to see what people are getting up to and to respond to them.

 

I have been keeping an eye on various forums around Thailand, and the only one that has more traffic than us is Thaivisa.com (by far) all of the rest of the forums dont even show up on the graph when using alexa to compare sites to ours.. I don't normally mention competing forums, but its always good to do research on other peoples traffic and keyword research, if I don't keep my eye on the ball, we will loose traffic and forum members will go elsewhere. As expected when we started the power user idea 10 months ago, we got alot of donations and then they died down around 5 months ago, so our progress with rankings has slowed down, this can actually be seen with traffic stats, but on a site like this the traffic does go up and down, but when you compare over the years its a slow curve. We upgraded to a server with the same amount of hops as a bank to try to make things faster, but with increased traffic we are always needing to upgrade. The latest server has been ordered and costs 30% more, but its a good sign that our traffic is in the right direction!

 

We asked those that want to help put something back into the forum to subscribe or donate, but with todays economy alot of people are cutting back. If you would like to help us, you could post a link on your website, your favourite sites/forums or on facebook. Helping us put stickers around Pattaya... Even writing trip reports on worldwide mongering sites and linking back to Pattaya-addicts.com is highly wanted and appreciated. If we can bring more mongerers to Pattaya and keep the mongering scene running, people are complaining there are too many russians/indians or other non mongeriing groups around, but people do nothing about it! If we all invite friends over to pattaya, or spread the word, we can make a difference, If you have time, you can help get newbies onto this site and the members trip reports do the selling, if you have little time, then maybe becoming a power user means that you have made your mark!

What I don't think a lot of people understand is that PA is a business, and as such has the right to invest any revenue into whatever area it sees fit to grow that business. Clearly there are expenses, and like most people trying to grow their business, you probably don't pay yourself enough for the hours that you put into it......and as I said, I don't see that as being anyones business!

Addicts itself with never be a full time job or income.... but its a gateway to many things. I have many connections and alot of doors open. It gets me an income indirectly, such as the new sapphire lodge... we don't get many addicts down there, but we get a fair few. People are still learning that its not far from Walking Street and that its turning into a late bar, loads of hotties turned up last night.

 

When I started addicts I wasnt going to work much, but I was and still am passionate about Pattaya, I have invested so much time in learning about the city, its never going to change. I see the forum as a community project owned by the members. Although the moderators need to have the final say and I need to take control of the marketing, the members are the ones writing the content and steering the forum in the direction of being more useful and fun.

It's definitely not a good idea to state in a public forum that you're buying links. Google most definitely frowns on buying links for ranking purposes; it's difficult to detect in most situations, unless you come out and state in public that you're on a link buying campaign. I pay as a Power User as i enjoy the Site and know keeping it up and running is Fecking hard work. The few Quid i spunk up each Month well that is the least i can do for having a great time here on PA

Well I'm a newbie so here is my take on this site. It's very informational for a rookie like me. I have a suggestion that will make this site 200% better. This can also add a pay feature to the site. From what I read this site actually have bar owners and people from Pattaya and Bangkok on it. Make a chat room or forum where you can interact with bar girls and freelancers. You could get more bar owners involved who can sign up there girls. This would be a great advantage to everyone involved. The bars and girls get more advertisement. PA get to make some profit. And for the readers of the site, we get to have fun and make our plans for our trip to Thailand. Hey you can even add webcams. It seems like so many bar girls use the Internet anyway. Let me in on the profit. Or at least give me free access. Lol

I meant that I will never change my learning habits in Pattaya... of course Pattaya will change... alot of people are scared by it, but I think if it doesnt change it will get boring, yes, its becoming a more upscale mongering place. But I am rest assured that I can still shag hotties at the Thai places.

 

I have been living here 5 years, but coming here 2-3 years before that, and there is alot of change already. I havent been hitting the gogos in Walking Street for around 6 months and i am hearing new gogo names again.
