Skywards airmiles on ebay

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Iwas just looking on ebay.Came across this.

20;500 Emirats/skywards for sale.

Currant bid is £109.00 17 hours to go.

Is this a good deal? it seems to me a cheap way of upgrading

Has any one brought air miles befor?

it may be worth keeping an eye on in future.

What would be a good price to pay?

Thank you and look forward to your replies

as far as i am aware emirates airmiles are non tranferable,i may be wrong. i know you can purchase them from emirates.if i was you id check with emirates before purchasing them from ebay

just on another note,i upgraded earlier this month on way back from thai and it was 25000 miles on each leg--thai to dubai---dubai to manchester, and you dont get the airmiles for your flight or your tier miles

i have 49,500 just enough for a kettle in there brochure....

Correct me if i am wrong but skywards members can 'gift' airmiles to fellow skywards members ? 5 years ago paid £100 for 30,000 miles which were

transferred into my skywards account as a 'gift'

Posted

Yes Skywards miles can be transferred.

I gifted to a board member of another forum and he paid monies into my account after transfer.

I bring over 10 people from South Africa to the UK and back every year - would I be able to get their skywards points/miles?

I cannot tell you from LON/BKK, but I have just used all mine from MAN/BKK.

From economy to business it is 42,500 air miles per leg, and there are 4 legs i.e. you stop in Dubai.

I did not have enough for all 4, so I have upgraded the two longest legs, and economy the other two.

At least I get some sleep.

You can get a part of them if you register them all as family members. i.e. brother in law etc.

I am not sure if you can have 10, but I have 3, and they all fly to LOS a lot, so I get 25% of their miles added to mine, even if I am not flying.

Works well for the upgrades.

Yes! Skyward miles can be transferred anytime.... I have transferred miles to work colleagues before.

i'm still waiting for them to give me mine...just got back last week and discovered they have only given me miles for 2 legs(6000 miles), but previously i have always been credited with all 4 legs

Comp upgrades will happen when economy is oversold... All depends on the numbers.

They usually approach the skywards members first in order of miles earnt/seniority.

All this is going on in the background whilst people are checking in.

They also have to take into account staff/standby travellers.

If Emirates oversell 10% in economy as does British Airways that's potentially a lot of upgrades on an A380 if virtually everyone decides to show !!

Yes but the aim of the game is to have every seat with a bum on it economy, business and first.

I think most long haul carriers would rather oversell, upgrade and even offload with compo and another ticket than have empty seats.
