Well not really, guys going out on the piss don't want to be riding motorcycles, that's when they rely on public transport.

 

I guess songteaws are the best as prices are fixed provided you stay on established routes. Just make sure you have the correct fare because most songteaw drivers won't give change to farang.

 

I've found the motorcycle guys to be mostly OK but have had a few cheat me. They give you a price and at the other end the price is suddenly higher. Guys claims he said blah blah and you misunderstood. It's happened to me in Patts a couple times.

You're obviously new to the expat life. The British Embassy never do anything more than "provide consular assistance" for which read SFA. They're too stuck up in their own colonial style existence, a sheltered life behind heavy security. They know nothing of the local lifestyle for Brits.

 

The only thing that gets them motivated is if the Queen visits a mission, and then the Ambassador automatically gets a knighthood.

why argue with the taxi driver, just give him the money and move on.......

Can't see any sense in provoking a Thai motorbike taxi driver over a lousy 100 baht.

 

Some punters here think it's too expensive, comments like "where were they going, Bangkok" ?

 

Doesn't matter where they were going, they agreed to pay the price of 200 baht asked before the ride.

 

They were in the wrong, deserved what they got, could have been a lot worse.
