Thats what happens when you worry more about how your air hostess looks rather than balance sheet. Lol, jk.

Newayz think they gonna be bailed out and everything will be fine.

Haha now that's funny. But the fact is i heard Mr Mallya hand pick his girls.. I wish he shown that much dedication to the company!!!

I don't think they will get any support from government and the other airline will screw us by hiking the price and which they already done.

I think they will continue to fly and another shocker is IATA banned them for further booking through third party travel agent / site. Now only you can book directly from them. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/IATA-suspends-Kingfisher-Airlines-ticket-sales/articleshow/12175881.cms

It was one of the best airline in India but going under loss in fact all major airline is running under loss due to heavy taxation on fuel & bad government regulation.

The UB group is a huge MNC and i just hope they do something to take care of this mess. I don't think you will have any problem getting your money back even though you bought it by debit card but i think it isn't so bad to panic for you. They will continue to fly.

Actually you may well get a refund. Different rules apply to debit cards but in the UK, debit cards have a similar protection scheme to credit cards....it's just not so well publicised! Check with your bank who issued the card.

Kingfisher may well not last that long.......latest word is that the Indian government will not bail out the independents! They have had their bank accounts frozen by the tax authorities and staff haven't been paid in a while and some pilots are now refusing to fly until they have been paid!

Not encouraging news!

Understand Kingfishers plane operating into LHR last night has been impounded.

Kingfisher announced yesterday Delhi-LHR flights cancelled as from today, also Mumbai-LHR temporary cancelled until 16th March.

Looks like the 'end game' for this Airline - cannot see it lasting more than 48hrs.

I think maybe like Sri Lanka some yrs ago another backer will step in to save the day at least for the short time be they another Airline ( as Emirates did Sri Lanka ) or Goverment.

This may continue for Months even Years until a new package running at profit or little loss can be sorted.

Not sure if the impounding was ref Fuel Monies O/S or credit ran out to buy more either way bad news for those already in the system.

I wish them the best of luck

This may well be something to do with the recent high court ruling in favour of RBS regarding the GBP 21.5 million owed in unpaid lease fees?

Nearly all flight providers provide airline failure insurance within the ticket price for couple of quid.

Almost certainly you'll have it.

You normally cannot opt out of it so you should be fine. Check out the website where purchased.

Just had this info from a friend of mine at LHR.

IT001 A330 VT-VJN impounded last night at LHR by BAA on behalf of creditors and is now parked by the BMI hangar.

3 other KFA aircraft (type not specified) arrived overnight in Dublin and are now parked up.

A330 VT-VJO grounded in Mumbai indefinitely with 'unserviceable engines'

Sorry to say but it's not looking too good for your flight in April!

I would be very surprised if they went under. India is a very protectionist country and their government will bail them out for sure.

I don't think they will get any support from government and the other airline will screw us by hiking the price and which they already done.

Maybe they raised their prices, but they still charge much less than pretty much any other airline would charge for equivalent routes. They are still incredibly cheap thanks to all the subsidies.

Indian Government will not bail out Kingfisher - what they might do is allow foreign ownership which would allow for say Etihad/IAG Group to purchase Kingfisher on the 'cheap' however i suspect the Government will do nothing and therefore their Company (ie) Air India will survive in its present state. After Kingfisher go bust all eyes will then be on Jet Airways who could go the same way as Kingfisher.

Unfortunately Govt cannot support any particular airlines as majority of airlines are running under loss.

I don't think any private Indian airlines has any kind of subsidies apart from Air India and few domestic sectors flights & that is my understanding. The major problem the airline industry facing is high taxation on turbine fuel and that is almost 40%. We are going to see soon some major regulatory changes in Aviation sector and even foreigner investment ( Which is pending from decades)

I completely agree they are still incredibly cheap & charge much less than pretty much any other airline would charge for equivalent routes. Those who have travel with Kingfisher & Jet airways will surely agree.

See the other Kingfisher thread on this forum.

Kingfisher ceased their LHR operations on the 14th March.

I think it's doubtful they will resurrect themselves. Pity really, the service itself was very good. Just the idiots Mallya employed to manage the airline were the real problem.

They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.....and they OWN a brewery.........! :ThumbDown1:

I think I read somewhere that once a business files for bankruptcy protection, people do not get their money nearly as easily, if ever. I don't remember the details exactly, but I would dispute the purchase ASAP.

So never mind the cars, does any one want to buy some planes.

Jet & Air India are going to be the big 2 from this nation IMO.

The world economy still has many big problems to come IMO.

I have always found Budget Airlines to be crap any way.
