Online Check In

Recommended Posts

Ok up until now, i've only checked into my flight the traditional way, turn up show passport and get boarding pass.

I'm toying with the idea of checking in online for my up coming flight. Primarily so i can choose my bulkhead seats and avoid queuing up. You can check in online 24 hours before the flight, i aim to be logged into emirates website 23 hours 59 minutes before departure :D

Just got a few questions about it.. and more specifically Emirates and Manchester Airport

When you print out your boarding pass, is that a4 piece of paper with a printed ticket acceptable at the airport? or do i need to change it for a more 'solid' cardboard style pass at the airport?

Can i choose my seating for the second leg of the flight? (DBX - BKK)

I did online checkin for my last flight with Emirates and yes it allows you to book seats for both parts of the flight. In the UK I got an SMS and email with the ticket so just showed that when I went to drop my luggage, so you don't even need to print it if you have a smart phone

I can't imagine Etihad are too different from EVA (who I use), so while you'll avoid most of the queuing you are unlikely to get bulkhead seats that close to flight time. EVA allow you to reserve your seats months before the flight and premium seats are probably going to be reserved well in advance. It also appears to be where they affix cots to the wall for passengers with infants, so maybe not the best place anyway if you value a quiet flight ?

Flew emirates from Gatwick, your printed boarding pass is an e-boarding pass no need to exchange & from memory you can choose your seats for both legs. You obviously still need to be there early to bag drop.

Just saw the op sorry for late reply!

There is a possibility that if you do not reserve well in advance you can get a free upgrade - it has happened twice for me and a mate - once we were together the other time he was alone - its worth the gamble in my opinion especially if you fly with Eva regularly - just sayin.....
