visa run, self-drive from Pattaya

Wedders

Recommended Posts

Was going to fly, but decided last minute to drive myself. Which is the best border point to aim for, ie the quickest to drive to from Pattaya, the least hassle? Anyone know the nearest border crossing to Trat?

Anyone know whether there are any places worth visiting not too far from the border (on the Cambodian side), should I want to stay for a while, perhaps for a night or three? I know I can't take my hire car into Cambodia, so would need to find reliable public transport.

Have to do this trip within the next three days, any advice greatly appreciated. Only ever done border runs from Chiang Mai before.

It's about 90 kms from Trat to the Had Lek/Cham Yeam crossing. A very nice undulating coastal road in good nick now.

All you got the other side is Koh Kong, with a few bars and possibly an adventure in the chicken farm there.

I went through Poi Pet last time. It's not far, depending where you're coming from and it seems to be a lot busier than KK, but I've not spent the night there.

Cheers, I'll go it a go. I've been to Phnom Penh a few times now, but fancy a trip into the sticks for a change. Still, don't know if I've the courage to do a chicken farm experience, to be honest.
